Any advice, I am aware itching is normal due to stretching skin in most cases, in the last 2 days I've had more hand a feet swelling and I have been itching a lot, mostly my fingers but also my face and legs?

Get checked ASAP

DinosaurDiana · 07/02/2021 18:01

It could be your liver, so phone the midwife or GP tomorrow. Nothing to worry about, but get an opinion.

Sunnydays999 · 07/02/2021 18:01

Someone far better will come along but I would be worrying about the condition that affects your liver - bumping to get you better answers

Do you think your face is swelling or just itchy ?

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 07/02/2021 18:04

You need to contact your midwife about this it could be raised bile levels in your blood. Which is obstetric cholestasis. That left untreated can be dangerous for baby.

You could give the maternity until a ring tonight or phone midwife tomorrow. They need to take bloods and monitor baby

Sorry if this sounds scary but I had this and with medication it is controllable. Don't hesitate to call them though.

Thanks for replying, I am going to have a shower to see if it eases but I think I'm going to give them a call this evening if it hasn't eased! May I ask what symptoms you've had? I'm usually so blaze about things and to nervous to call!

Don't be nervous to call! Agree it's important to get your bile acids checked. They can also sort out a prescription for antihistamines or creams to help treat the symptoms too.

Really only had very itchy hands and feet. Not even constantly. Just a 2 or 3 annoying bursts a day.

I happened to mention this in passing to my consultant (I was an older mum so under consultant care). She immediately sent me for bloods and had me put on a monitor. Until then I had never heard of obstetric cholestasis.

My bile levels were really high. So started medication and twice weekly monitoring.

Bloods twice a week too.
