Worried about RHR in early pregnancy

Hello everyone,

I am 5w+2 today, so still very early days.
I got a 3+ on CB digital at 4w+6 so I thought things were progressing well.
I had a miscarriage at 6w+1 in November so my anxiety levels are quite high. Today I noticed that my resting heart rate (RHR) follows the exact same pattern as it did last time before the MC: big rise after implantation, big fall at 19DPO. The graphs are eerily similar, I'm in an absolute panic. I know there's nothing I can do but wait and see but I'm petrified.
Any advice? Am I overreacting or am I onto something here? 😞

Everyone's rhr fluctuates by gestation. It's not an indicator of another mc so try not to look for similarities. Take each day as it comes, it does get easier as your pregnancy progresses. Good luck

Thank you @Chelyanne, I'm trying my best not to panic but pregnancy after MC can be a very stressful experience. I was doing fine until I noticed the similarities, it brought back so much sadness and pain. 😔

There's no real evidence that RHR follows any pattern in early pregnancy, the biggest changes actually happen in second trimester. I think you're reading too much into it and anxiety is much more likely to affect the rate than anything else. Try to relax about it if you can and maybe take off your heart rate monitor so you stop watching it. It's hard after previous losses, but most people go on to have perfectly healthy pregnancies after a MC.

Thank you @kensue19! I definitely regret putting the watch back on today!! 🤦🏻‍♀️

It's normal for RHR to fall around 6 weeks before rising again - Mine did with my twins (and I didn't get a 3+ until 5+0 so you're levels sound pretty good!)

I hear you. I had a mc @ 9wk, despite seeing a hb on a private scan. Not my 1st rodeo either as that was my 5th one. Pregnancy after mc is terrifying but excitement overtakes the worry eventually so just hang in there.
Hopefully all will work out for you this time.

Thank you @ivfbeenbusy 🙂
I secretly wish I have twins 💕 but first and foremost I want this pregnancy to progress normally. 🌈

Honestly I was a crazy over thinker and worried like you.

After 4 miscarriages and seeing my rhr fall just before each one, I was obsessed with watching what it did.

I ended up taking my Fitbit off after I had an early scan at 5+4. It was causing me so much worry. I had the scab, saw a heartbeat and then the very next day saw my rhr drop again. I was so unbelievably worried.

I ended up booking another scan for 6+2, all was fine.

I haven’t put the watch back on since and honestly I feel free lol. I had another scan today at 7 weeks and still all was fine.

Taking it off was literally the best thing I did.

Congratulations!

Hi @eloiseislost, just wondering how you got on with your pregnancy? Im currentl6 going through the same anxiety after a chemical pregnancy in april and an mmc in july. It's so stressful seeing rhr come down. Although i think im going to take off my fitbit. Hope everything went well and you've had/are ready to have your baby 👣🍼. Xx

GinnyBee · 19/11/2021 09:58

Mine did the same, it's nothing to do with the miscarriage but just something that happens. I also worried, because the same thing happened with my mc, but I'm now 14 weeks and RHR has gone back up in the past couple of weeks again.

MrsCtobe91 · 19/11/2021 10:28

@GinnyBee that's reassuring to see that your rhr didn't affect your pregnancy. Iv taken the fitbit off and going to keep it off.

Congratulations on your pregnancy by the way :) Xx
