At my 20 week scan I was told my placenta was low lying posterior- 1.9cm away from my cervix. I was advised against having sex but I'm also being told that that only applies if I've bled previously. Anyone have any advise? Xxx

I was told similar at my 20 week scan, that my posterior placenta is covering the cervix. I'm coming up to 30 weeks now and haven't had any bleeding episodes but been told by midwife and consultant to avoid sex as it can cause bleeding. x

Hi, I was told this too but wasn't told to avoid sex.
However, I would if I was told to as I know it can cause bleeding.
I've just had an internal 32 week scan and luckily it has moved up out the way of the cervix!
