Lots of brown when I wipe

I took a clear blue digital test this afternoon and got 3+ plus weeks which is about right as I'm 5+2 today. I've just been the toilet and wiped and there was quite a lot of brown in the tissue and I'm getting cramps in my stomach. Does anybody know if this is normal? X

Hi @myfirstbabyx

I'm not sure how normal it is but I had the exact same thing at 4 weeks. I had a scan at the EPAU which didn't show anything (it was obviously too early but they wanted to do it anyway) and my bloods taken which showed my hcg levels were increasing.

If you are concerned can you ring your local early pregnancy unit? I know some won't see you until 6 weeks but mine were great and saw me straight away so it's always worth a try.

I was told that brown blood is usually old blood and not necessarily anything to worry about so if you can try to hold off and wait it out it will most likely stop on its own. Mine stopped after about 4 days and the cramping is still on and off. I know it's not easy to not worry though! My anxiety is at a new height!

I had this between 5 and 7 weeks in all my 4 pregnancies.
Brown blood is kind of a good sign as it's old blood.
I was told it was left over blood from implantation

I had this at 6 weeks, went for a scan at the EPU and all was fine. Said it was likely leftover from implantation and not to worry too much unless it gets heavier and redder.
