Anyone have any tips on encouraging labour? Had lots of increasing cramping but nothing reliable telling me labour will come any time soon, starting to feel very disheartened by it and just want to meet my baby 😩 also want to avoid an induction due to Covid ☹️
Anyone else gone overdue and went into labour having had no previous signs? Xxx

Hope everyone's doing ok...snow in London and can't go out for a walk its so slippy :-( 1 day overdue so I can only imagine how frustrating it must feel at 5+.
I've bought a birthing ball to bounce on whilst watching daytime TV! Will let you know if effective...otherwise got reflexology appointment tomorrow which i think might be a fancy foot rub but I can't wait!
Is anyone else finding it hard to tell whats baby movement and whats braxton hicks? Braxton hicks seems to be so regular now for me and merges into baby movements.
Happy Monday guys sending all the positivity!

babydust2412 · 08/02/2021 11:10

@Mrsahs91 I'm also having a boy and first baby! 💙 I'm okay just feeling quite disheartened, however seem to have just lost most of my mucous plug so could be a good sign 🤞🏼🤞🏼

@Dorset555 yes!! I can't tell what's baby pushing up and making my belly tight and what's braxton hicks it's so confusing 😩 xx
I've been on my ball for weeks. It helps me feel better like I'm at least helping somehow, and I did a lot of bouncing and circle motions on it yesterday and today have lost most my mucous plug so could be a coincidence or the ball definitely could have helped xx

Aww I know exactly how you feel @babydust2412 😞

I'm 9 days over now and literally no signs, not a twinge and it's driving me mad. I'm trying everything to take my mind of it, I had a bit of a meltdown over the weekend but I'm starting to get back into a good headspace now. It's just hard watching everyone, including those due after me, with their babies already 😔

I really wanted this to be special for my partner (it's his first) but the more it drags on the more I'm in the mindset of 'get this over with'. I just have to keep reminding myself that there's some countries where we wouldn't really even be considered overdue and trust my body to progress when it's ready.

It's never fun being part of the overdue club but just know theres loads of us there with you ❤️ x

babydust2412 · 08/02/2021 11:21

@ExhaustedMumofsix Thankyou so much for all the support ❤️ bless you being 9 days over now ☹️ I'm feeling the exact same way of just wanting to get it over with because it's been anticipated so long now, just want my little one here already 😩

Wow your doing amazing at 9 days over !i haven't had anything yet ! Not lost my mucus plus ! And haven't even had any braxton hicks and I have tried every old wife's tale the book! Do you have an induction booked in ?

ExhaustedMumofsix · 08/02/2021 11:49

@mrsahs91 I have my first stretch and sweep tomorrow so I'm really hoping that gets the ball rolling 🤞🙏 no ones mentioned anything about inductions to me yet so I'm presuming maybe if this sweep doesn't work? I never see the same midwife twice and It's so hard knowing what's going on.
I've tried pretty much everything myself too, I haven't lost my mucus plug and my braxton hicks have pretty much disappeared over the last few weeks 😕 it's so weird, if I didn't have this wriggly beach ball hanging off the front of me I wouldn't really even feel pregnant anymore.

Dorset555 · 08/02/2021 11:58

@ExhaustedMumofsix well.done for staying to sane and positive! I can't imagine its very hard but I guess your baby is getting everything it needs right now and this will all be a distant memory for you soon!
@babydust2412 I will def get on the ball and try the circular motion today...its so hard to know what has an effect and I guess what would have just happened anyway! But definitely feels good to take control and take some positive steps...other than eating my date cake all day long :-)
My baby has been measuring big throughout pregnancy- 90th percentile...I'm kinda worried ill be giving birth to a toddler if nothing happens soon!

ExhaustedMumofsix · 08/02/2021 12:14

@Dorset555 you're not the only one! My baby has measured between the 90th and 97th centile pretty much the whole way through and I said the exact same thing about giving birth to a toddler 😂 guess we nourished our baby's a little too well lol.

It's amazing what our bodies can cope with though, I'm pretty small framed and have natural birthed a 10 pounder. Although I did curse a little when his head/shoulders were born with my knees pulled up to each side of my face 😂

Dorset555 · 08/02/2021 12:32

@ExhaustedMumofsix ah really? Yea I had GD test but all fine I guess some people just make bigger babies! Or scans are apparently often wrong, but I've had a fair few scans so would be surprised if they are all so consistently wrong...as long as the baby arrives safely and is healthy im happy! Did you 10 pound baby wear newborn clothing size?

SunSparkle · 08/02/2021 12:48

41+4 here. Had two sweeps (last one was Friday) and some acupuncture on Saturday morning. Had my show Sunday afternoon but nothing since then. Got my appointment to discuss induction options tomorrow morning at 8:30 so will see what they say then. I really wanted a homebirth so hoping they can do some thing and then let me home afterwards.

ExhaustedMumofsix · 08/02/2021 12:53

@dorset555 he was in a combination of newborn /0-3 months but I think that's because clothes sizes are never made the same anyway. Even now, I was folding my baby clothes the other day and some of my 0-3 stuff was as small as the newborn stuff lol. I think a lot of his weight was due to him being a pretty long baby though to be honest, it got to a point that I had to start cutting the feet off his onesies til I got new ones 😂 poor bugger was like an extra from Oliver Twist 😂 x

Youvegotafriendinme · 08/02/2021 13:08

I’m only 1 day over due and feeling frustrated already so I really take my hats off to you that are more than that. I sent DH out yesterday for a ball which I’ve spent far too much time on and yet nothing. Keep getting low level period like cramps at night but I’ve had that for weeks so it’s nothing new. I feel bad when I start getting frustrated that she isn’t here yet because my first pregnancy was so awful and my son was just over 5 weeks early and I’d rather this than the previous but I can’t help getting impatient.

Dorset555 · 09/02/2021 07:28

Morning all how are you guys feeling today?
I'm now 40+2 and def getting fed up. Anyone else got really swollen calves and ankles? Got reflexology this afternoon which I'm looking forward to although I feel sorry for the lady...my feet have not seen much love recently 😅
@ExhaustedMumofsix thanks for the tips on sizing! I'll get the scissors at the ready in case its a long one!!
@Youvegotafriendinme we must have the same due date! How's the ball going i spent about half an hour on it yesterday for the first time...was quite nice but nothing seems to be moving yet..no cramps..no show..
How's everyone else doing too? I reckon lockdown is making this last stage so much longer as there is nothing to do...its so icy too so even going for a walk is off the cards for me :-(
Anyway happy Tuesday and sending max positivity to all! X

ExhaustedMumofsix · 09/02/2021 09:18

Morning guys! 41+3 for me today 😩 god I never thought I would get this far, but this baby really is still in no rush to go anywhere. Still zero signs.
@Dorset555 I totally agree about lockdown, this last month or so seems to have dragged, especially the last ten days. Being stuck in house means I've not had a lot to do other than obsess over every symptom, get envious over everyone who's gone into labour early and attempt to 'relax' 😂

I'm due in for my first sweep at 4 today and I so can't wait. I know I shouldn't pin too much hope on it but it's the first positive thing I've had to cling onto x

SunSparkle · 09/02/2021 16:59

@ExhaustedMumofsix how did your sweep go?

I went into hospital for induction today (discuss options and which one to go for). They tried to insert the balloon catheter but my cervix was too thin so they couldn't place it, and they didn't think a pessary would help as my cervix was already favourable and 2cm. So I'm back home for another couple of days (popping in for a daily CTG) and they are hoping I go into labour on my own. If not, next step is back in to be admitted, have my waters broken and go on the drip.

Back to the waiting game!

ExhaustedMumofsix · 09/02/2021 17:53

@SunSparkle Sweep went ok, mw said baby's head was low and my cervix was thick but she still managed to do the sweep. God I forgot how uncomfortable they are 😂
She's booked me in for the balloon induction on Friday and the covid test tomorrow, ughh.
Just playing the waiting again too lol. Don't think I'll be pregnant past the weekend though, I'll be 2 weeks over on sat and I don't see them letting me go much over 42 weeks now.

babydust2412 · 10/02/2021 19:39

Just a quick update, had my baby boy today at 41 weeks ☺️❤️

Congratulations! Hope you are both ok!

Dorset555 · 10/02/2021 20:55

I know I already said it on the feb babies chat but....congratulations again!!! Lovely news !!! X

Youvegotafriendinme · 11/02/2021 22:33

Congratulations to you @babydust2412.

I have been having contractions all day today last a few seconds and about 20-40minutes apart. Since 8pm they’ve ramped up to every 6–7 minutes so I think this could be the real deal! Grin

Dorset555 · 12/02/2021 09:55

@Youvegotafriendinme sounds like its happening! Good luck and sending you positive vibes - hoping to not be too long behind you!!!

SunSparkle · 12/02/2021 11:44

I’m 42+1 today and still no contractions really so been admitted to hospital to have my waters broken and hopefully come home with a baby sometime soon!

Dorset555 · 12/02/2021 12:52

@SunSparkle al the best! I'm sure everything will go smoothly for you hope you have a nice quick time!!
