Hi everyone
I'm currently 5 weeks pregnant and when I say I've tried to quit, I've really tried to quit and I am really struggling.
I've not had a cigarette in a while and have just been on the ecig.
As soon as I found out I was pregnant I really have cut down on the amount I go on my ecig. But can anyone help please.
As in just how harmful is vaping to my baby? Did anyone else vape during their pregnancy? Any tips on how to get off it without wanting to stuff my face?
I should also mention i tried chewing gum to stop (chewing gum makes me feel queezy and more hungry)
I've tried sucking on lolly pops but as soon I finish I want my ecig even more.
I've tried keeping myself busy but in a lockdown it's hard to really keep yourself that distracted.
Any tips or experiences would be very appreciated xxx

All these type of things are not at all good for baby or you. Ideally you should cut it little by little, the stress of trying to do it too quickly can be serrimental to the pregnancy too so take it at a comfortable pace.

I quit smoking before getting pregnant with our eldest. I did it at the same time as starting a diet too, I found it helpful to be so focused on the diet that I didn't even think about cigs. That was over 16 years ago, I went teetotal just over 3 years ago too. Shame I can't just quit food really lol

I vaped during my entire pregnancy. The midwives were aware and said as long as I wasn't smoking it was fine. I did use 0% nicotine eliquid for the last 6 months (and while breastfeeding) but the midwives said it was fine even when I used nicotine eliquid.

Vaping is so new the data isn't available on whether it is actually safe, and absence of evidence to it being harmful isn't the same thing. So I would take the view of avoiding any risk if at all possible.
When I quit (though I wasn't pregnant, but it's still kicking the habit and at least you have a very good motive) I did it by keeping hands and mouth busy, I drank a LOT of peppermint tea (which is great for nausea too) cos I found the taste scratched the itch a little (so to speak), and everytime I wanted a smoke I would suddenly think of something that urgently needed doing with my hands, anything from cleaning the loo, to putting some make up on, to having a shower, to sorting the loft out... anything really. It took a year to stop having cravings, they petered out gradually, I think I started from the path about 5 times in total over that year and the last time I caved I hated it and realised it was nostalgia... that was the last one I had.
Good luck, it can be done, self distraction is your friend.

I'm 18 weeks at the moment and vape, baby is absolutely fine, my midwife says it's much better than smoking and isn't concerned at all, she was more worried about my ever increasing stress level when I didn't vape than she was about the actual vaping.

With my 1st pregnancy I was trying to quit smoking cigarettes and a midwife recommended I vape instead as it's less harmful.
In terms of stopping vaping completely, you could try gradually reducing the nicotine level or even trying a 0mg nicotine liquid. If overeating is a concern for you, perhaps fill your fridge with lots of healthy foods that you could snack on, or drink lots of water so you feel less hungry.
Perhaps find something to keep your mind occupied, like a hobby you enjoy, or if you don't have one maybe try drawing, just anything that keeps your hands and mind busy I found useful, so you're not thinking about vaping or how long its been since you had any nicotine.
Go easy on yourself and don't worry too much about it harming baby, I know quitting is incredibly difficult.
Congratulations on your pregnancy.
