Hey guys just a quick question. At my 12 week scan I was given a due date of 27th April 2021. I’ve just had to go for another scan due to reasons in my pregnancy at what I should of been 28+1. But measuring 28+5. How come they don’t change your due date? Does this mean the first scan was incorrect? X

I think it's just policy that once they've officially dated you they don't change your due date. Don't know why but my sonographer explained that date wouldn't change after the 12w scan

I think as the weeks go on there is more variety of size between different babies? But at 12 weeks they are more similar? There must be a reason they do the dating then.
If you went by size measurements in growth scans in last trimester, mine's head would be due 6 weeks before their legs!

Most babies have a similar growth rate by the dating scan. Their growth can vary wildly later on so they always stick with dating scan estimate.
Our son measured 4 weeks ahead at 28wk growth scan so moving due date would have been daft.

Babies grow about the same rate until around 13 weeks, then it starts to vary so they don’t change it after the initial scan

They don't change the due date after the dating scan as babies grow at varied rates. I found at all my scans (I've had a couple thus far for heart views + growth) that the dates always vary and get confusing.

I like to think the due date is more of a due estimate, since babies decide when they fancy entering the world.

I say this as a 27 week FTM who will no doubt be a waddling desperate mess at 41++ weeks, cursing my original due date.
