Irregular contractions but really feel something is happening

I keep being told by hospital I don't need to come in until the usual 3 mins apart.

I've been having contractions on and off for the whole week but tonight they are so painful, I cannot catch my breath through them and struggle to speak or even think.

But they are still pretty irregular. Some coming 6 mins apart, others 3, some 7 and so on...

Can I just insist on going in anyway?! I have had codeine here at home and it's just not doing anything.

I was 3cm dilated on Monday.

I had irregular contractions almost all the way till DD was born. Prem birth though so don’t know if that affects things.

In your shoes I would go in.

Definitely ask to be checked again. All labour's are different. My second I had irregular contractions the whole time even when admitted at 11am waters broke on their own at 3.20pm and hadn't been checked from 11 he was born 15mins later nearly in the lift. Also explain on the phone that u were 3 when examined on Monday. And if u get a nice midwife that examines you ask her to do a sweep while checking should kick start u properly that happened with my fourth. Went in at 11.30pm checked was a 3 she gave me a sweep and he was born 7 hours later

I had irregular contractions the whole time, they were even trying to send me home when I went in to deliver. When they finally checked me, I was 9cm and crowning! So something could be happening

Yes. I got to 9cm dilated without ever getting to the magical 3 minute interval. Insist on an examination.

I’d go in, I had irregular ones until they pulled DC out with forceps. They put me off twice when I called because of it but I rang back and said no I’m coming in and was admitted there and then 5cm Grin not everyone is regular.

Absolutely go in. I was having contractions 6.5/7 minutes apart on Friday but struggling through them. Went to the hospital and was only 3cm dilated but DD was born 3 hours later.
