Down syndrome blood test result

Hello everyone. I am new to mumsnet and I have a very common question that I am sure everyone asks.
I am 35years old and I am 12w 4d pregnant. I went for my dating scan on 3rd February. The scan was normal apart from baby moving frequently. The NT is 2.7, but they found in my blood test that my pregnancy is 1: 118 chance of developing down syndrome which is less than 1%. They advised us to go for cvs or amniocentesis or the harmony test. Are there anyone here who had the same circumstances like mine and what was your decision. I am very confused and nervous about the tests. Please advise.Smile

@Mrslouu
That is a very good result. Thanks for recommending the chat page.

@Excitemum you have my sympathies, I well remember how terrifying this time is. In my second pregnancy my results showed a 1 in 3 chance of Down's Syndrome. I didn't want an invasive test but did have the harmony test. I'm glad I had the test which confirmed that our daughter has Down's Syndrome. She is now 5 years old and a complete blessing like all children. If you get a positive result I highly recommend reaching out to the Down's Syndrome Association for up-to-date information and advise. I wish you a peaceful couple of weeks waiting for results and, whatever you decide I hope you will have some certainty soon. Happy to talk.

Hi OP,

No IVF here. With first child the result was 1/450 chance which seemed quite high given that lots of women my age got 1/10,000 but didn’t take it further.

Second child got 1/8000 risk but third child was 1/124 risk. To me, that seemed high enough risk to want to get further checks. Paid for the Harmony test which was SO worth doing. Results came back very quickly and with the extra information new score was 1/10,000. Plus added bonus of finding out the sex very early if you want to!

It cost £500 but DD is now 4 and I’d still say it’s some of the best money we ever spent to reassure us.

Hope all turns out well ZoP, would recommend the Harmony test.

Hello everyone,
So I finally had my harmony test result and it came to 1 in 10,000 which is a low risk and I was so relieved when the nurse told me😊 plus the added bonus of knowing the gender of the baby🤫. Thank you everyone for your lovely messages and hope you all have a safe and happy pregnancy. @May09Bump @ILoveMyCaravan @DownRightAmazing @lookingforsomehelp @Chelyanne @Radglags @catsrus
