Midwife doesn't reply

Hi all, just a question about midwife service.

I'm nearly 10 weeks into my first pregnancy. Attended my booking appointment where my midwife gave me a general number, and then said it was probably easier to text her with any questions and she'd get back to me.

I messaged her last Friday to ask about a concern I had with the hospital knowing my current address to send my scan appointment letter (I recently moved and she had my old address on my paperwork at my appointment) so just wanting to make sure I don't miss my scan date - which I can't wait for!

Anyway, I tried to follow up earlier this week, still no response. Also wanted to check my blood tests came back ok as a little worried about iron levels.

Should I be following this up another way and just being unreasonable? Or should I be worried about the service? - Really want to have confidence I'm in good hands, but now I'm not so sure... 😬

It's not the best but I'd take things in hand and contact your Trusts PALS or Patient Experience team. Ask them to check that your address has been updated and see if they can confirm your scan date.

They're not just there for complaints, you can ask them for help with anything you need clarifying.

Bit rubbish of her not to reply. May be worth trying to find the midwife teams numbers on the Internet, she could be on holiday or off ill so there should be someone else to deal with queries too.
I would ring the hospital ultrasound department directly to ask if they have an appointment on record for you.

Our trust has gone paperless so all letter come via email link rather than post. So much better.

I was just about to say she could be off sick, my midwife gave me her number and she didn't reply to my texts / calls. Turns out she was poorly and had been on a few occasions throughout my pregnancy. Is there a general number for the midwives you could call? If not, I agree to call the ultrasound department directly.

Hope you get sorted soon!
