Small femur length 29 weeks

I had a scan this morning due to low lying placenta at 20 weeks. Doctor said everything looked fine, no concerns, but I’ve just looked at the exact measurements and the femur length is measuring almost 4 weeks behind 😕

I had the NIPT which came back as low risk.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

Sorry for being unintentionally thick, but how do you know it's 4 weeks behind? I just have a graph with centiles on which it's plotted on.

Calmingvibrations · 04/02/2021 14:15

Yes, me! It was less than 5th centile and I can’t recall what week it was picked up. I was worried sick. Turned out ok though, my child does have quite short legs and arms but nothing major.

The printout lists where each measurement is in relation to where I am now. Everything else measuring a few days ahead.

Good to know! Was it flagged with you at the time?

Hi, I'm not in the same position exactly I'm fact the opposite.
My baby's are measuring 3 and a half weeks ahead compared to the rest and compared to how far I am.

If they were concerned, they would have contacted you and discussed it or told you at the time. But as they said they weren't concerned, I wouldn't be either.
It can be completely different at your next scan.
Measurements on scans can also be massively out.

Yes, I ended up having twice weekly scans the last couple (?) months - sorry can’t recall exact time. Cant even remember how it was picked up - I was considered generally high risk and consultant led care due to other health conditions. So maybe it was an extra scan due to that later on.

Yes my DD measured on the 2nd centile. Are you and the babies father particularly short? I got told not to worry as neither of us were tall and she's likely to be short like us!

Hello - old post but currently going thru the same situation. Any update on you and LO🙏🏻💙? Hope all is well x

Hello - yes, thankfully everything was OK and I am sitting with a very healthy 26 month old beside me (she actually has very long legs!) as another poster said measurements can be very massively out, I think as a first time mum I panicked and overanalysed everything. If your doctors aren’t worried you should try not to either. Wishing you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy 😊

Thats soooo wonderful to hear. I envisioned this for myself as well. All the best for you and your LO🙏🏻💙 is there any chance you remember whether you remained 4weeks behind/dropped or climbed up the curve during your growth chart/weeks until labour? Thank you so much 🙏🏻
