4+1 and worried!

So I’m 4+1, I know it’s very early, but I’m so worried there’s not actually a baby in there! I misscarried at 5 weeks in 2019, the three tests I’ve taken have much darker BFPs than my previous pregnancy. I’ve got my first midwife appointment booked and I’ll be bang on 8 weeks.. how can I put my mind at ease?! I know it’s too early to feel any different, I can’t work out if I’m nauseous, have heartburn, both, or it’s all in my head!

I can totally relate to the anxiety after a loss but for your own sanity and health you need to try to relax.
You are very early and at this stage there isn't a baby yet! Try to take your mind off it a little or you will drive yourself crazy. Try to distract yourself, take each day as they come. Focus on the present - you are pregnant. Trust your body.
It's a bit early for symptoms like morning sickness or heartburn so don't worry if you don't experience these until 7 weeks... or ever.

You have 4 more weeks until your booking appointment. I know it feels like a long time but beware there's nothing reassuring she wil do. As in, the booking appt isn't a scan or an hcg blood test or anything. However if you are anxious i would mention it to her.

@SunnySideUp2020 Thankyou for your reply! I’ve had an email through with my 12 week scan appointment this afternoon which has calmed me a tiny bit, but I don’t think it’ll feel real until I’ve actually had the scan! I’ll definitely mention at my booking in appointment that I’ve been anxious (most likely still will be!) I just don’t want to be taking a test every few days to reassure me I’m still pregnant, but I know I’ll be doing that!!

Would you have a private scan? I had one at 8 weeks, but it turned out I was only about 6 weeks, and they couldn't see much. I went back (for free) at 8 weeks and could see a teeny baby in there.

So, what I'm saying is I guess, don't go before 8 weeks!

SunnySideUp2020 · 04/02/2021 15:20

I also had a private scan at 8 weeks (turned out i was 7w2 i think) but could see the blob and we listened to the heartbeat. It was a big relief but until the 12w scan i really had to work on myself to not let anxiety take over my whole life!

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 04/02/2021 15:23

Congratulations op!

You must relax. The egg has literally just implanted. If you worry too much you’ll drive yourself crazy. A big hug to you and lots of positive vibes for a successful pregnancy

Ninetyfive21 · 04/02/2021 15:33

I’m in two minds about a private scan.. As much as I want one, the closest place I can find is about 45 mins away, and obviously with everything going on at the moment I’m not sure I want to travel that far 🤔

@Ninetyfive21 I'm exactly same, I got really faint BFP's and then a positive CB and still I cant stop worrying that something is going to go wrong! I had MC last January so its taken us this long to get another BFP and I'm just scared!

Ninetyfive21 · 04/02/2021 15:52

@gizmo167 congratulations! How far along are you? 2 and a half years since we started ttc so literally everything is racing through my mind, when realistically I know I need to chill! Got my prenatal vitamins arriving today (hopefully 🤞🏼) so that’s something else to focus on!

Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do to put your mind at ease.
I am on my 4th pregnancy, 3rd baby, and 32 weeks, and I still worry and have major anxiety over something being/going wrong to the point I refuse to buy anything.
Congratulations and good luck.

Ninetyfive21 · 04/02/2021 18:09

So I stupidly got some cheap tests this afternoon, just used one and it’s got the faintest line! Was expecting a decent line as my 3 other tests attached in my original post were all evening tests Sad

@Ninetyfive21 I'm 4 weeks today and the same as you worried, been ttc for 2.5 yrs. This is our first bfp.

I hope your pregnancy is a healthy/happy one. Make sure you look after yourself

PurBal · 05/02/2021 06:01

Congratulations OP. I was really anxious after some early spotting at 5w. I'm 18w2 now and still get anxious. I felt flutters at 16w but was 2 weeks before I felt them again. I was literally sitting still for hours at a time to see if I could feel them move. I don't think the anxiety really goes away. I find it really helpful to to remember there is absolutely nothing I can do to change the outcome of this pregnancy, it's "in God's hands" as it were. I'm now (anxiously) awaiting 20w scan to see everything is as expected.

Daffney6 · 05/02/2021 06:25

Hey! I must be literally the same as you! 4+1 today! Found out yesterday!

But this is a different brand, so they'll all show up slightly differently. There's still a definite line. Try not to send yourself crazy with all the tests.
Ninetyfive21 · 05/02/2021 12:10

Thankyou everyone for your replies!
I took another cheap test at 3am this morning and it was as strong as my frer & clear blues, if not slightly stronger! No more testing for me (maybe once a week 😂)! Now to try and stop my impatience waiting for appointment & scan 😂
