Fell from the stairs

On Saturday I discovered that I am pregnant 4 weeks, My first doctors appointment is on the 15th February.

Yesterday, I was carrying laundry downstairs and slipped on the top stair, I fell on my back/tailbone the entire way down. I have a few aches and pains, no actual injuries, but am worried of course about any effect on baby.
Any advice would be welcomed as I am terrified. How soon after something like this would bleeding/cramps come if there were indeed complications from the fall?

In early pregnancy your uterus is well protected by your pubic bone. It's all still tucked right down.

I had a very painful argument with a gate when I was about 6/7 months and DS was again very well protected in there. I was black and blue but he was fine.

I went straight down a flight of stairs (about 10?) when I was 7 weeks. There’s probably an old post here about it on here lurking ...

Panicked- went to A&E on the advice of 111. Was told to get a scan but was reassured at that stage they are so tiny and cushioned they wouldn’t have even noticed . Scan the next day showed a healthy baby . Am now 22 weeks and everything seems fine

I, on the other hand, looked and felt like I’d been beaten up. Hard to tell if the cramps were psychosomatic or not but they were certainly present from that evening.

Thanks God everything is good with you!

I am fine, do not feel anything, just worry about the baby!

Blinking heck, totally different advice to what I’m getting on my ‘pregnant and fell down the stairs thread!m’

Hope you’re ok? I’m 8weeks and fell last night, most are saying call EPU. Is upload it does no harm to check?

Oks1995 · 03/02/2021 21:55

How do you feel right now?? I cannot check right now because I only 4 weeks pregnant, it is too early!

OP, it is too early, EPU won't be able to scan you now. I would stay positive, at such an early stage the embryo is well protected and it's unlikely it would be affected by the fall. Get a private reassurance scan at 6 weeks if you can. FWIW, falls are mostly dangeroua from second trimester onwards because you're risking placental abruption. At 4 weeks there's no such risk as no placenta yet. Deep breaths and be careful going forward. Good luck.

If you are not bleeding then baby is most likely fine. If you notice any period type cramping or bleeding call your GP for a midwife referral.

**EPAU referral not midwife

I tripped over at 39 weeks. Straight onto tummy. Hands and legs really cut up and full of gravel. Went to get checked out. Baby absolutely fine. They are well packaged in there. Most annoying was I was having a planned c section the next day and getting checked out meant I lost my last afternoon of no responsibility!

Thank you!!
