Cord or willy?

Hi all. I need some advice please?
Went for a gender reveal in November, was told we were having a girl. Bought everything for a girl as you do. Then 20
Week scan came around and I asked to confirm, they said yes looks like a girl and later in the scan, ooo that could have been a willy but we can't be 100% because of the way baby is lay, it may be the cord. Had a growth scan at 29 weeks as pictured yesterday and they said it's a boy? Could this be the cord as she was certain girl at the first scan and the lovely lady was in training. Nobody to blame here just asking for opinions and if this has happened to anyone any turned out to be the umbilical cord? Claire

My scan looked very similar and I had a boy!

Milkand2sugarsplease · 03/02/2021 16:53

I'd be more inclined to believe the later scan to be honest. Pre 20 weeks, everything is smaller and harder to make out. If she's was confident it's a boy at 29 weeks, I'd go with that.
Or go for a private scan to double check.

Bleughbleughbleugh12 · 03/02/2021 16:55

I think that’s a boy, but can see the chord too

WalkingMeAway · 03/02/2021 16:59

That does look like a Willy. Very similar to my two boys scans 😬

Frustration21 · 03/02/2021 17:06

Willy.

Looks like my sons

She couldnt have been 'certain' in the 20 week scan if she said that couldve been a willy? So it probably is a boy..?

Ithinkhedidit · 03/02/2021 17:22

Looks like a boy. We were told girl at 20w scan for ds2 and he's a boy! These things happen.

Cinderellashoes · 03/02/2021 17:23

Looks like a boy to me too! Can you call the place you had your 16 week scan and ask for a rescan?

Yes they have booked me a rescan as confirmation so I will let you all know. Thanks everyone x

I was told DD was a boy at a scan at 32 weeks. It's harder to tell apperently because everything is bigger and kinda arms/legs/cord all in the way. Suppose the only way to know for sure is when the baby is born.

Cinderellashoes · 03/02/2021 17:27

Either way congratulations
(I am biased as I have 2 but BOYS ARE AWESOME! :D)

yarrow89 · 03/02/2021 18:40

I'd go with the 29 week scan that it's a boy. Potentially the willy was underdeveloped or in an awkward position so wasn't visible in the earlier scans.
Also if your 16 week scan was at Window to the Womb (I think the text looks similar to their scans), they are being investigated for poor practice:

Looks like boy to me. I'm on boy no 2💙 looks similar to my scans

Keep hold of the girl clothes, pack neutral in your hospital bag and suppose ultimately it will be a bit of a surprise

Mummyof2Terrors · 03/02/2021 19:15

Boy

physicskate · 03/02/2021 19:18

Girls have three distinct parallel lines which are the outer labia. Easier to mistake a boy for a girl than a girl for a boy.

That's a boy.

kensue19 · 03/02/2021 19:29

That definitely looks like a joy in both scan images.

kensue19 · 03/02/2021 19:29

Boy!
Crazycatlady83 · 03/02/2021 19:50

I think your 16 week scan looks like my scan pic from my first pregnancy - he is definitely a boy! I think the first pic is a willy, because I think I can see the cord just behind it! Either way, I’m sure they can tell you on your rescan!

Going by the last couple of days worth of sexing threads, there seems to be a lot of boy/ girl confusion going on with being told one thing at a private scan and another at the 20 week scan!

clairelouise504 · 03/02/2021 20:11

Thank you everyone. They have rebooked a scan which will offer 4d too so hopefully have a definitive answer. When they watched the video back they were all convinced girl but the latest definitely looks like boy 😂.

I had extra scans due to various issues and on 2 pregnancies never managed to work out which bit was the willy. I was quite shocked at one angle, but it turned out I was looking at an arm. So if you had first scan with a person who hadn't had full medical training then it is easy to get wrong. Congratulations on whatever you have.

OhThatNamingThing · 04/02/2021 11:16

That 16 week scan looks like a boy to me as well. Girls have 3 white lines in a row which is the labia. No white lines on that early scan

How are you op? Did the private scan give you an answer? Hope you are ok xx

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 11/02/2021 07:05

You are biased. I have two girls. I’ll amend your statement to:

Babies are awesome!!!!

OP, hopefully you’ll find out definitively. I’d say it looks like a boy but I’m not an expert and have only had girls.
