Midwife issue

Not sure if this is just a vent or if anyone has advice.

I am currently 16 nearly 17 weeks pregnant and my midwife has gone AWOL.

I have been trying to phone and text for several weeks as I cant find any record of our next appointment but Im due blood and urine tests (ordered by the hospital but taken by local midwife) as Im high risk and suppose to be monitored.

I also have had several pregnancy related medical problems and have had to go to the GP and phone the hospital for because she hasnt responded to anything.

All phone calls keep going to voice mail saying shes an annual leave but this has been nearly 3 weeks now, she is the only midwife in the area and they use to work with the GP so you would just phone the surgery to book and appointment but since covid they have become independent from the surgery.

I have never even had to contact a midwife before (4th pregnancy) so this is all new to me but I feel like its taking the piss.

Any ideas what to do?

The only other contacts I have is for the hospital for emergancy issues and this isnt an emergancy but I am missing important tests and have some worrying but not 'emergancy' health symptoms.

Can you not phone the antenatal department at your hospital and explain

Can you not phone the GP and ask if they have another number or if they know where the midwife might be? Or yes I would phone your other contacts. Someone might know something.

The only other numbers I have is in the hospital infomation book and is the emergancy number for the hospital.

The Midwife isnt part of the GP practice anymore so they cant help and has been working out of the health center but they dont really know anything either as its more like medical grade rooms/offices that licensed proffesionals can hire to work.

You cant even enter the health center without an appointment as they have locked doors and a doorman who varifies who you are and your appointment.

You should be able to find contact details for the antenatal department online, which hospital is it?

Ring the hospital, they should know who the community midwives are or at least have contacts for them.

There’ll be more than one community midwife in your area! What would happen if she got ill/holiday/blah, ring the community midwives general number/local hospital antenatal department and they’ll help.
