Miscarriage?

Hi,
I got one faint positive on a strip test on the 31st of January and then a positive on clear blue digital on the 1st of February stating ‘pregnant 1-2 weeks’. That day I had some cramps and spotting so I contacted my GP and they assumed it was implantation bleeding. They checked my blood pressure and all was fine. I was told to contact the EPU if the bleeding and cramps got worse. Later that day my bleeding got worse and so I contacted EPU, however they didn’t want to get me in due to having corona cases on the ward. They told me to wait it out and to take a test on the 19th February to see if it was still positive or if miscarried and it was negative and contact them to let them know.
The waiting is driving me insane!
I’m not bleeding continuously and I’m not in a lot of pain, just mild cramps.
I just want to know other people’s experiences, both positive and negative.
The bleeding started at pinky/brown spots and is now red.
TYIA!

That's similar to how my first MC started. Monday morning I wiped and saw a tiny bit of brown discharge. I had an early scan booked for that day anyway. By the time I got there bleeding had stopped. Scan showed "pregnancy of uncertain viability" - there was a pole but that was all. A bit more spotting that day then that night around 3am I woke up with quite a bit of red blood. Called the hospital and they said to wait it out. Bled through Tuesday, starting to see "coffee grounds" in the bleeding which is fairly typical of a MC, started to slow down on Weds. Thursday night I passed a clot probably about 4cm across and it seemed pretty obvious what had happened. After that it was like a normal period for about a week. None of it was that painful physically as it was so early (happened at 8 wks but scan showed only measured 5). I didn't wait the 3 weeks to test - I got a negative test about 3 days after passing the larger clot which confirmed what had happened.

That was my experience, but stats show that 50% of the time women go on to have successful pregnancies after bleeding in early pregnancy so you may be just fine. For me it was seeing the smaller and then bigger clots that made it obvious it was a MC and you didn't mention anything about that.

I feel for you it is a terrible waiting game, fingers crossed for you that you don't have to go through mc. Good luck.

I've only had more than a bit of implantation bleeding with unsuccessful pregnancies. I've had too many chemical pregnancies to keep count. I had one in the cycle prior to current pregnancy. Tests were faint when af was due, took another a couple of days later which was not much stronger, another 2 days negative and then af turned up. I've had ones where I'd end up a couple of weeks over and they're just a heavier period then cycles return to normal very quickly.
I count myself as pregnant now once I pass 6wk. I have had 5 mc between 8&12wk. Most recent I had spotting at 7 weeks which was too late for implantation but stopped quickly. Had a scan at 8+3 that showed a baby with hb measuring 7+4. 4 days layer l started spotting again and it just got worse over the next couple of days. I had clots on the 3rd night and then passed baby which looked perfect in it's sac. Bleeding lasted 8 days after, took 3 weeks to get a negative test after that one. My 1st mc was pretty bad, bleeding was still very heavy after 2 weeks and they said I had an infection but antibiotics cleared it up. Thankfully current is now 11+3 and going well, we also have 5 healthy children from 4 pregnancies so not all doom and gloom.

So it was just yesterday you got the positive test? It could be a chemical pregnancy, or it could be nothing, if it's red bleeding though it doesn't sound too promising. Just have to wait it out as advised unfortunately.

I had a different experience so can’t be much help to you. I was on a lot of medication (IVF pregnancy) so I didn’t have any bleeding, however at an early pregnancy scan the baby measured 6 weeks (I was supposed to be 8 weeks along) and then I was told to come back in two weeks so they could scan again. I went to a different EPU (as I still went for my booking appointment with the midwife) and waited four hours to talk to someone, but there was nothing else they could do, just wait. At the next scan it hadn’t grown at all so I had a medically managed miscarriage (they give you pills to take and it kicks everything off).

It is so so so hard to have that uncertainty hanging over you and to have to wait. Whatever the outcome I wish you the best, and I commented so you know you’re not alone and that having to wait to find out is unfortunately normal but also really sucky and hard.

I had a bleed at about 7 weeks, it only lasted a day but it was red. I had a private scan thinking they worst but it turned out baby was fine but I had a small hematoma which had started bleeding. I am now 9 weeks and it's healed. So it could be something like that.

Sorry, I will reply to each of you. I just realised I didn’t add that my last period was 30th of December and my next was due 26th of January.

Also forgot to add that I had a strong positive this morning but obviously understand that it would likely be positive despite mc.

Firstly, sorry for your loss.

I’m trying to be hopeful but also not get carried away.

I guess it’s just a case of waiting it out.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Sorry for your losses but glad all is going well now. I hope it continues!

Thank you for sharing your experiences. I’ve read loads of threads but figured doing my own would help.

Yes. I am usually every 28 days. I was due on the 26th of January and took my first test on the 31st and second yesterday, which was a digital. I took another today, which also showed positive. First it was pinky/brown spotting when wiping occasionally and then has increased slightly and today it was red blood.

It certainly is hard waiting but, as you say, unfortunately that’s just the way it is.
