Simple cyst - 10 weeks pregnant. Reassurance please?

I had an early scan yesterday, 10 weeks pregnant. Saw our lovely little baby, everything looking well.

The sonographer showed me that I have a "simple cyst" in my left ovary, 4cmx4cm in size.
He said they are common, and usually reduce by themselves, and not to worry.

So of course, I am sitting here worrying.

Any similar experiences????

Thanks

Not sure if I will be much help but I had a similar sized simple cyst found at 9 weeks - mine was 6x4. Because it was over 5cm (I think that's the cut off) I have had a growth scan every 3 or 4 weeks since 28 weeks due to the fact that it can make the fundal height measurements inaccurate. It didn't change at all until 32 weeks when it has started to get squashed a bit and is now about 9cm at 37 weeks. The consultants I have seen still don't want to do anything with it but have said that they will check it 6 weeks postpartum. I haven't had any pain or problems with it and still wouldn't know I had a cyst if it wasn't for the scans!

I’ve had two pregnancies and loads of cysts, I think if they’re over 5cm they remove them. Apparently they’re normal and they monitor them if they’re too big!

I had a 10 x 6 cm cyst, discovered at 8 weeks after some horrendous pain. Ended up consuktant lead and had a couple of additional scans, cyst reduced on its own, almost by 50% at 20 weeks and completely gone by 30. They said they wouldn't operate before 14 weeks and then only if I continued to be in pain. Wasn't required. Cysts are so normal and generally go away on their own. If anything you'll be lucky and get a few more scans.

Thanks for the replies.
Hopefully it is just something that will reduce in size and go away by itself then!

I have had a few twinges of pain, but now o know there's something there I feel like I will overthink it.

I will be due my NHS scan in a few weeks so I guess we'll see if it's changed at all then!

@wannabe123 hope everything gets sorted with yours!!

Sometimes you can have these simple cysts especially up until 12 weeks, it often can be the follicle where the egg was released from when you conceived 'fills' up, they often resolve on their own as above. It's reassuring that it's a simple cyst so try not to worry, I'm sure they will monitor it x

I meant to say I had a 6cm cyst that went away on it's own x

I had a scan at 10 weeks and it showed a cyst, then at my 12 weeks scan the cyst had gone x

Thought I'd come back and update you. Baby was born this morning by emergency c section after he was too excited to wait for the planned date (due to being breech). They removed the cyst after baby was born and it turns out it wasn't attached to the ovary but a ligament next to it!

Congratulations!!!

Glad to hear all went well SmileDaffodil
