Hi I'm 5wks pregnant, is it safe to take x2 paracetamol?

It's my first pregnancy and I am questioning everything before I do it.

I'm feeling slightly warm so was trying to think what to do to help.

Feeling slightly warm is not really a reason to take paracetamol. Wear fewer clothes and open a window for fresh air

BertieBotts · 30/01/2021 14:46

Paracetamol is safe to take in pregnancy, but you should only take it for pain or fever. Feeling a bit warm is unlikely to be a fever.

Mummyme87 · 30/01/2021 14:49

Yes safe to take normal paracetamol dose.

Wouldn’t take it for feeling warm however. Keep an eye on yourself, remember covid.

Paracetamol is fine in pregnancy

Chelyanne · 30/01/2021 15:24

Paracetamol is safe to take but best avoided.
Unless you have a fever or pain that is stopping you sleeping or being able to do daily tasks I would say you don't need it.

I’m 13 weeks and have had a few headaches, sometimes lasting a few day’s, but have managed to get on without paracetamol. I prefer to follow the rule of not taking anything unless absolutely necessary

Snally82 · 31/01/2021 08:11

Yes it safe - but take for pain!

Morgelyn · 31/01/2021 12:33

Paracetamol is fine in pregnancy, but should be kept to a minimum if possible. I would only take it if absolutely neccessary, particularly in first tri, e.g. i had a headache that wouldn't go away for over 24 hours no matter what I did and eventually I caved and took some. Definitely wouldn't take them for feeling warm, pregnant or not.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 31/01/2021 13:01

I take paracetamol regularly due to spd and have actually been told to keep on top of 4 hourly doses not wait for the pain to be bad. I definitley wouldn't be suffering a headache for 24 hours when two paracetamol could make me feel so much better! Yes i wouldn't take them for feeling a little warm but there is no reason not to take them for pain!

Chelyanne · 31/01/2021 13:12

I had horrid spd with twins but only took paracetamol to help me get to sleep, only took the edge of for a little while so wasn't worth taking regularly. Paracetamol use long term us very detrimental to your own health let alone baby, doctors advice or not I don't think it's worth it.

Morgelyn · 31/01/2021 13:17

snowflae i know, personal choice. I'm super careful in the 1st trimester.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 31/01/2021 13:39

During my last pregnancy i was actually taking spd and codeine regularly due to spd, it wasn't just something that made it hard to sleep i needed the relief to be able to move!

Chelyanne · 31/01/2021 14:14

Spd is bloody excruciating with every movement but each person has there own tolerance level. I did my best to power through the pain, better for me in the long run. Took years and a lot more pain from the gym to strengthen everything back up again.

AliceinBunniland · 02/02/2021 13:39

Paracetamol is safe in pregnancy but the advice is to take as little as possible. I am cautious and so only take it if I really need to eg had fever after flu jab abs bad back pain this week so took it for about 24 hours but I generally try to go without.

By feeling warm so you mean you have a fever? If so that's a good reason to take it but I suggest you invest in a thermometer.
