Did you bath?

I love LOVE baths and so many people have said to avoid them.
I don’t have a thermometer and the idea of a luke warm bath isn’t appealing.
But did anyone bath in the 1st trimester? I’m 9 weeks and desperately seeking baths lol

Yes it's absolutely fine to have a bath. Unless your bath is akin to a pot in which you could boil a lobster you'll be no worse for wear. 😊

I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and I have a bath every day! As long as you aren't red and sweaty it's fine!

I bought a bath duck thermometer for a fiver from Amazon - haven’t used it yet but figured we’ll need one when baby is here anyway so might as well get one now!

Oh thank you, life savers. I’m literally sitting in the bath now lol and loving it! @Same4Walls @ame88

@MrsB2019x great idea. I’ll have a look.

Thank you

I've been having hot baths throughout. You just want to avoid getting too hot and causing low blood pressure. Nothing better than a long soak at the end of the day!

Teakind · 30/01/2021 08:55

Yes I did but I didn't have it too hot. I read up on why hot tubs are considered dangerous for pregnant women so figured a hot bath would be similar.

It seems you need to not raise your core temperature (like when you have a fever) and this is a particular risk in the first trimester.

I may be over cautious though as I've had multiple miscarriages so won't take any chances.

I had baths throughout, just kept the window open so I didn’t feel too hot or dizzy

PFin · 30/01/2021 09:25

I love baths too. Have a bath nearly every day and love them nice and hot. I have reduced temp a bit and keep window open to stay that wee bit cooler.

Twizzle8 · 30/01/2021 09:49

Thank you all for the help. I feel much better now, I’ve missed them so much. I need to have something to look forward to everyday and it helped with my nausea loads this morning 😊😊

As others have said - fine if they're not too hot! I take a nice drink of some kind with me. Current favourite is Seedlip with ice and tonic or lemonade. My baby loves it; he starts moving vigorously as soon as I get in. Just as well considering he'll be a water birth. 😂

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 30/01/2021 11:44

Love a nice hot bath!

Currently 17+6, also 5 other dc who have been fine with my hot baths!

I did throughout both pregnancies. This is the only thing that warms me up. The water temp (I measured it when I was pregnant) was 39. At some point my eldest found it too hot, as he was wriggling too much so I just used to stick my huge belly out and keeping the rest of me submerged.
