Is cramping normal at 7 weeks?

I’m 7 weeks going by my lmp and I only found out last week. I’ve got my booking appointment in February and I’ve started taking folic acid daily. This is my first pregnancy but I don’t want to get too excited because I am so anxious as it’s still so early.
Recently I’ve been have mild cramps that come and go, and I’ve been feeling so tired all the time. Is this normal?

I’m 5 weeks tomorrow and have had cramps for about a week now. They don’t last too long but are bloody awful 😅 All i’ve read is that cramping is quite normal and I’m not bleeding. I think I have trapped wind to be honest.

Hi OP, congrats! Yes, I had plenty of cramping with DS in the early weeks of pregnancy. I know it's hard but try not to worry! Hope all goes well!

Mrsmch123 · 29/01/2021 22:34

Yes, and it continues🙄im 18 weeks and it still happens.

Chica1990 · 29/01/2021 22:38

I had a lot of period like pressure for 2 weeks. I am 7 weeks from lmp today and it’s died down apart from every now and then and now I mostly don’t have it I’m like oh stopped stretching down there!? 😐

When it stopped the sickness seemed to kick in, have you had that yet?

BL89 · 29/01/2021 22:43

I felt like I was starting my period for the entire first trimester which included a cramping feeling. Good luck x

Tippytaps · 29/01/2021 22:53

At 7 weeks you are in the danger zone for ectopic pregnancy.

Mild cramps are okay, mildly sharp pains or long aches are not okay and should be checked.

HmmSureJan · 29/01/2021 22:55

Yes. Both my pregnancies I had intense cramps and felt as though my period was about to start throughout the early weeks. It's your womb expanding.

coffeeandjuice · 29/01/2021 22:59

Yes it's normal. Xx

Just a quick update, I decided to go for an early scan at 8 weeks and I saw baby with a heartbeat. I had my 12 weeks scan 2 days ago and sadly I’ve had a mmc. Good luck to everyone else.

@Littlemissc93 sorry for your loss.. sending you hugs and kisses..

BlueberryPancake21 · 08/03/2021 13:38

So sorry for your loss OP. Finding out at 12 weeks is tough. Look after yourself.

Just to anyone else finding this thread I wanted to say that cramping IS normal at 7wks and not indicative of MC unless accompanied by bleeding (and even then it can go either way). MMC is heartbreaking but is symptomless - for a while the body doesn't know the pregnancy isn't viable and so acts the same as it would in a viable pregnancy. I've had 2 losses (one MC, one MMC) and am now 36 weeks PG. I had the same kind of cramps in all 3 pregnancies. Don't want anyone to worry unnecessarily.

Hi all, found out I'm around 7weeks pregnant the other day. I've started having low stomach and back cramps similar to period cramp, just wondering if anyone else has had this!? Thankyou

kjcar · 29/08/2021 21:48

@Georgia01xx I think I'm about 5 weeks and have had a lot of cramping and back pain (no spotting or bleeding luckily). I've been quite worried about it but am trying to take heart that I don't usually get these symptoms for af! I've read quite a few posts and seems it's fairly common.

Littlemissc93 · 31/08/2021 12:34

@Georgia01xx congratulations! I’ve just found out I’m pregnant too and the cramps are what made me do a test. I had this in my last pregnancy and my midwife said it’s normal, it’s everything stretching. x

@Littlemissc93 aw congratulations to you too! Oh thats abit of reassurance, thankyou! It has eased off over the past few days but I'll try not to panic if it appears again hahaha! X
