What do Baby movements feel like?

I'm 18 weeks, I have an Anterior placenta so I'm not sure I'll feel them until a little later, and not as frequently as others may.

This is my first Baby and so I'm wondering what Baby movements feel like and if it's "obvious" as such

I have an anterior placenta too, I did have a few weeks around where you are where I would sometimes think I felt something, then if I thought about it I would decide maybe it was just my pulse. By 22 weeks I was definitely feeling movement and by that point it was unmistakable. The best thing I can compare it to is when you have a bad stomach and you sometimes feel wind moving round inside, hope that's not TMI! Except its more deliberate than that. The movements really vary, sometimes its like a frantic kick, sometimes much slower as though the baby is shifting position or stretching.

I would describe it as that feeling you get when you have a eye twitch or like someone very gently tapping you from the inside out. Some people describe it as popping popcorn too.

It felt like a bubble of wind popping.

First ones feel a bit like it feels when you put your hand in a fish tank and the fish flicker around you.

Later it's more of an elbow or foot in the ribs.

A bubble or tapping!

At first it's like a flutter or twitch then as the weeks go in it's much more obvious and you can feel kicks, feel baby turning around, feel hiccups etc

Like little bubbles popping

Tarantallegra · 29/01/2021 16:34

Thought it was wind to be honest Grin then it gradually got more obvious it wasn't and I'd say pps description of popping popcorn or bubbles popping is accurate for me. Now it's 100 full speed tap dancing at 29 weeks.

Now my life is 50% wishing he would please stop kicking me so much and 50% panicking that he has stopped kicking me.

A lot of the time at the beginning it felt like a tiny muscle twitch to me. The twitches are a lot stronger now! One time I got an actual muscle twitch in my knee and thought "oh there's the baby again" then remembered it wouldn't be in my knee... Other movements feel like what they are - something moving inside. That happened a couple of weeks later for me though.

I had anterior placenta and at 19 weeks thought ‘is that what it is’ at 20+3 I had an ‘oh that was definitely it’ moment. It was very subtle though and really only because I was so focused on it. Felt like a bit of a bubble on the inside popping and very infrequent at first as well. At 25/26 weeks I was in the bath and saw a tiny kick on the outside 😍

Like a butterfly flutter

For me it felt like trapped wind or bubbles of gas in the digestion moving around haha! Took me a few days before I thought wait a second...
