Baby heartbeat 150

Hi all. Had a scan today and my baby's heartbeat was 150. Midwife said all is normal but I want some extra reassurance lol. Was anyone else's baby heartbeat 150 at 12 weeks? And is it a sign of baby boy or girl ?xSmile

Reassurance about what?
A medical professional told you it was normal and didn’t bring up any issues....so?
Tisa sign that you’re having a baby!

‘Tis a *

That is a perfect heart rate.

I would put my money on a boy. Girls tend to be a bit higher.

SunnySideUp2020 · 29/01/2021 13:40

Thought the same exactly
😅
Not sure what else to add...
I don't remember my 12w scan HB but was probably around 150 as this is what it should be.

Boy

150 is absolutely fine, even slightly lower or higher is fine, mine was 165 at 12 weeks, having gone down from the 180's around 9 weeks.

ivfbeenbusy · 29/01/2021 15:18

Yes it's normal not sure why you weren't reassured by what the professional said though 🤷‍♀️

My DD1 did have a high heart rate but just had twins boy/girl and their heart rates were both in the 150 range so no it's not an indicator of sex

Both my girls heartbeats sounded like galloping horses though and my boys heartbeat sounded totally different

PurpleIsTheColour · 29/01/2021 16:37

Perfectly normal no need to worry, my little girl at 9 weeks was 167 and 165 at the 12 weeks scan. Still around the same and I’m 15 weeks now.
We’re definitely having a girl as we did the Harmony so got the sex confirmed too xx

Pretty sure my MW said the range is about 110 - 180 bpm at 12 weeks so 150 is bang in the middle and completely normal. The rate comes down a little bit after that. Heartrate can't predict sex - studies show no difference.

I was put on a monitor at 27 weeks for an hour after significantly reduced movements. Everything was fine. Baby's heartrate went as low as 100bpm for a few minutes and as high as 170bpm for a few minutes mostly sitting around the 130-150bpm mark. Same as us their heartrate goes up when they're doing things and moving about and goes down when they are resting. After an hour I got the all clear from the computer (an algorithm monitors everything and checks that it's all fine from measuring heartrate and oxygen saturation). So depending on when you measure you could get a different result anyway.

I'm worried about my heartbeat as it's 111 resting. Probably all normal tho fingers crossed Daffodil

@mumtobee22 your heartrate or your baby's heartrate? It's a bit on the high side if it's you. Speak to your GP or MW if so. Not unusual for it to go up in PG but they would be able to advise if there's an issue or anything you can do.

Your resting heart rate should go up between 10 & 20 bpm compared to pre-pregnancy. If yours has gone up by more than that it'd be worth asking the midwife team or GP for advice.
Chelyanne · 29/01/2021 17:58

It's also good to note that your resting heart rate will increase for a while after eating for digestion.

ivfbeenbusy · 29/01/2021 21:05

My resting heart rate heart went from 67 to 94 during my twin pregnancy

Sceptre86 · 31/01/2021 09:35

Heart rates naturally vary but anecdotally they say that baby girls have a higher heart rate so over 140 more likely to be a girl but really who knows. My ds was always around 120, whereas my dd's was always over 140. My dd's sounded like a galloping horse but ds's was different. Not sure how much weight to give to this theory though.

My rhr was a lot higher with our twins than our singletons too, your body has to dig deep to grow two babies.
