Hi,

I have a Toyota aygo 5 door hatchback . I have been looking for a car seat for my car seat for my car preferably one which can be attached to a pram.

So far no car seat or pram.

If anyone has the same car as mine and can recommended. Please help.

I had a v small car and had a maxi cosi cabriofix and a bugaboo bee 3 (second hand). They fit fine and I'd recommend both.

We have a maxi cosi mica car seat. It is a 360 spin seat so can't be put on a pram but the spinning seat is useful and it is extended rear facing up to 4years/18kg
I don't have a car on a day to day basis as my partner uses it for commuting so we wanted a longer term seat. She wakes up as soon as we pull up on the drive so it's not like we can get her into the house asleep in the car seat.
A few of my friends have switched to 360 seats after a few months as the travel system get heavy once they aren't tiny newborns. Have a think about what would fit best with a 4+month old not just a tiny newborn.

We bought our pram second hand, there are lots of practically brand new prams for sale

I would echo what @Superscientist says. I have a Joie ilevel which I wanted as it lays almost flat so I felt was safer BUT the damn thing is so so heavy! I’m 4ft 10 and tiny, the baby is 11 weeks and even now I struggle getting it in and out of the house. I would definitely look at weight as a big factor! It does attach to our pram (Bugaboo Fox 2) though which is useful because the baby hates the carrycot attachment and screams every time she goes in it 😂

I would suggest a Cybex Mios or an Easywalker Charley with Maxi-Cosi/Cybex car seat adapters and a Maxi-Cosi Pebble. A lightweight car seat that fits small cars too. I had it in a Fiat Seicento.

If needing even a smaller stroller, go for something that is travel.friendly and compatible with car seat adapers - like a GB Qbit+ All-City. But count on such a buggy to be simple, not terrain-friendly, and mostly usable for traveling.

Remember, Maxi-Cosi fit the same adapters as Cybex or Joie car seats.

I highly recommend the Doona car seat for the reason mentioned above- once babies are no longer tiny newborns, it can get really difficult carrying a car seat with a baby inside. With the Doona you just release the wheels and push it like a pram. I got it with DC3 and have recommended it to all my friends. Its an absolute lifesaver.

Another vote for the bugaboo bee! I have the 5, which is currently at a great price because they have recently released the 6. I use the cybex iCloud z with it.

Well what kind of pram? Choose that first and then find a car seat which is compatible (easier).
Do you want super compact and lightweight? Or more robust for all terrain? Big shopping basket? £110 or £500?
I went to a buggy shop and took my hatchback. I tried a couple of my preferred buggies in the boot and they both fit (with wheels on - they were all terrain so big wheels). I think you'd be surprised with what will fit in a hatchback boot so don't limit yourself initially.
If you are looking for second hand, you can still look around a buggy shop to get an idea of what you are looking for. You could buy your car seat from them if you feel guilty doing this, as you'll have to buy a car seat new anyway.

I have a mamas and papas flipz. I love it as got whole bundle so pushchair/carrycot/car seat/changing bag/isofix base. I like it as it’s fairly light to lift. Baby is now 4months and I still love it! I have a clio and have no issues getting it in boot. I tend to leave car seat in car though and just lift her in and out but mainly as I don’t want car seat taking up space in house.
