Anyone had a filling whilst pregnant? All go okay and any safety advice on x rays, type of filling, anesthetic the dentist gave?

I had one yesterday at 32 weeks pregnant. They said they wouldn't do xrays during pregnancy or use the metal fillings, so I've got a white filling instead (not sure what its made of). It looks nicer than the metal ones so I don't mind! It hurt more afterwards than other fillings I've had, and it took longer for the anesthetic to wear off too, but I think that was more to do with the location and size of it and the amount or anesthesia he gave me rather than pregnancy! I didnt ask what type of local anesthetic it was, but assumed they would only give me something that was safe. Hope that helps Smile

Very helpful! Thank you! Did you feel okay lying on your back that long for it?

I had a dental X-ray at 32 weeks Pregnant. My dentist said it’s really up To individual dentist and patients with what they feel comfortable but his sister was a radiographer and said for it to cause any “harm” to the baby you’d have to have like 20 x rays one after the other. Midwife also told me it was fine Smile

Had one last year when breastfeeding and it had to be white so I assume it was the same while pregnant. I did have my wisdom tooth out while pregnant. They were going to wait until after but it was getting worse so he just did it there and then. Not the most fun but perfectly manageable. I was third trimester. The worst thing was that I had nausea and vomiting all through my pregnancy so there was a lot of gagging. (There usually is with me anyway)
