Help!! Moldy Bread!!

This may sound like a really stupid question but I am super paranoid about everything at the moment since I have become pregnant with my first baby.

My partner had some bread last night which was well past its sell by date and which he still continued to go ahead and eat but asked me to smell it before, I didn't think anything of it until after smelling the bread which had a horrific smell of penicillin but had no visible mold on it.

Is this dangerous to my baby if I have inhaled mold spores after quickly sniffing the bread or am I just freaking out when really its not going to have done any damage??

I'm sure you'll be fine. I'm trying not to sound sarcastic but women have babies in war zones and refugee camps. Humans are tough. You won't be harmed by sniffing out-of-date bread.

Oneandabean · 28/01/2021 14:56

You and baby will both be absolutely fine. Try not to stress so much. If you’re anxiety levels remain high I’d speak to your midwife.

You are going to be fine. I doubt mouldy bread is dangerous anyway

A one off munching will be absolutely fine....don’t worry...you and baby will be fine.

Ps. It’s mouldy not moldy 😁

dementedpixie · 28/01/2021 14:57

She didn't even eat the bread, just sniffed it
You and your baby will.be just fine

Thank you all for your replies!

I know it sounds so stupid but I just hate the thought of inhaling something that could be potentially harmful to my LO Sad

Ffs. Thank goodness you managed to work out what the OP meant and correct her. 🙄

HollyBollyBooBoo · 28/01/2021 15:04

You'll be absolutely fine honestly!

It's easy to say but try and chill out a bit, it's not going to be fun for you to be so anxious.

Google "dangers of sniffing mouldy bread when pregnant "

When you are NOT faced with pages of information regarding the dangers of X then you know NOT to panic

If you find confusing info call your midwife for advice

If you find none of that reassuring then contact your midwife and tell them you are suffering from uncontrolled anxiety

Spelling police... haha depends if OP is UK based or not.

Mould from bread is unlikely to cause problems unless you are allergic to those mould spores.
