From about 4.30am yesterday I had tightenings where my stomach went really hard. They weren’t painful, but continued throughout the day. Last night I started feeling pressure low down while having them. Managed to sleep fine, woke up this morning still having tightenings but now when I get them I get a lot more low pressure, stronger than last night, not quite painful more uncomfortable.
My partner reckons I’m in labour. I was induced with my first so I’m not sure. Does this sound like labour?

It sounds like braxton hicks to me. These are tightening that happen in the second half of pregnancy to prepare for labour. Basically the muscles needed are having a little work out to get ready for the big day. It’s totally normal ... I’m 24 weeks and have been having them for a couple of weeks and so have been Googling. I don’t think they should be painful but they do get a bit crampy nearer the end of pregnancy from what I’ve read.
If they get properly painful you should probably ring your midwife.

When are you due? Does sound like Braxton Hicks

BatmanBaby · 28/01/2021 13:31

Are they regular? Have you timed them?

Oneandabean · 28/01/2021 14:14

Was due yesterday, they’re definitely not BH I’ve been having them for a while. These have got more painful during the day, still not regular or unbearable but increasing. Apparently it’s early labour so don’t have to be regular and may start and stop. Hopefully things will move a bit quicker soon.

Oh well that makes a difference! I was thinking you were a long way off giving birth. If you were due yesterday then of course they could be contractions!!
Good luck. Time them. Flowers

Sounds like early labour. These contractions could go on for a few days before real labour starts so get as much rest as you can, while (completely contradicting myself) staying mobile. If you have an exercise ball to bounce on it's really good for encouraging pressure on the cervix to help it dilate. Good luck!!!!!!!

Not yet, still getting contractions, but not regular enough for hospital, quite painful though.
