I thought this was an interesting read. Apparently, scan appointments are down though maybe that's due to people not getting them because of the pandemic? Though it seems at least there are no signs of increases like predicted.

@JemimaTiggywinkle

I think there’ll be an increase in first babies (working from home etc is a convenient time to be pregnant).

Think people that already have kids and are homeschooling etc may have delayed trying for 2nd or 3rd babies.

This is a really good point. Expecting my first. Working from home has actually meant that my stress levels have dropped considerably and I’m sure this contributed to me falling pregnant after over a decade trying. I realise many people are more stressed than normal currently... there certainly are stresses, but husband and I home on furlough worked for us conceiving!

I'm not surprised there's not a boom. I don't have kids but haven't been as in the mood for sex due to stress of the pandemic. I can't be the only one! Plus lack of privacy form kids, money worries, work worries, stress about the future. Lots makes sense as to why people are not getting pregnant now or choosing to ttc.

So many people underestimate how much of an effect stress has on your hormone balance. That is why they tell long term ttc'ers to relax and it'll happen.

My SIL has been ttc for a couple of years with no joy and stresses about it all the time. They've signed up to Foster and in the final stages now, hopefully it'll finally happen for them once their focus shifts.

I don't think it's surprising at all. I have 3 month old and fell pregnant just before covid hit the UK. If I'd have known what was coming there is absolutely no way I'd have kept trying to conceive. It was awful being pregnant and giving birth in a pandemic and now I can't even get an appt to get my baby weighed.

I remember seeing the boom stories and thinking there's no way that would happen

@PutOnAHappyFace same! It look 14 dreadful months to conceive and it really winds me up when people say I must have been busy during lockdown! TTC sex was the worst and I certainly didn’t do it out of boredom!
