So I am in the hospital waiting for my induction, delivery suite have asked for me to not be started yet as they are very busy. So more waiting and waiting, no idea how long it will be before my induction starts. An hour... 10 hours? Anyone been through this before? How long did it take to get started after being admitted? I am so excited to meet my baby. :)

My friend was taken in for an induction she was brought in at 8am sat there all day and night being told she was next on the list. She was finally given a pessary at 6am the next morning and and a drip finally had to go up around lunch time. She met her baby that night around 8pm! Good Luck

I had this with one of my inductions it was 3 days in the end

I had this twice. First time baby came naturally while I was waiting!

Second time I came in at 10am with bleeding. Nil by mouth from 12pm just in case of c-section. Decided to induce me at 5pm (I remember the time as I phoned dh to come to the hospital and he asked if he could have his dinner first and I told him he couldn't!) Induction started at 9pm, emcs at 1:30am the next day.

You poor thing. I find everything seems to happen really slowly in hospitals unless it's a major emergency.

I was admitted Friday night last week to be induced Saturday morning. Ended up being induced 2am Sunday morning! I really feel for you, was such a long slog!

lydia771 · 28/01/2021 15:16

Was induced (propess pessary) at 10am today. Strong contractions started straight away but have cooled off now. Still quite regular but not as strong. They said my cervix was very posterior, but baby was fully engaged so no idea what it will be like when they check. Fingers crossed I've gotten to 2cm and they can break waters. So desperate to meet my baby now, the final hurdle!

Wishing you well!
I’m due to go in on Saturday for mine, gutted my partner can’t be there as you just never know how long anything is going to take, and having to call him to drive back to the hospital which is a good 40 mins at the best of times is filling me with anxiety. Not that I expect to be lucky enough for the entire process to only take 40 mins or
Less, but you never know, haha! I’ve got some books, magazines and snacks to keep me occupied.

lydia771 · 28/01/2021 16:15

@Bambam2019 ahh I feel the same. My contractions this morning were coming every 4 minutes and I completely panicked about my partner getting in on time but it must have just been initial reaction to pessary as they are coming about every 7 minutes now. They've also said once waters break its atleast 12 hours until they send you up to delivery suite as it's v busy. Not sure how that works if baby is coming imminently though!

Just wanted to update this thread. I was induced 10 am Thursday. Finally met my beautiful baby girl 1am Sunday after an emergency C section, well I didn't officially meet her until around 8 hours after as she was rushed to NICU. We are both still in hospital due to the birth complications but are recovering well and hope to be home in a few days ❤️
