Tips to get the baby out!

I am currently 37 weeks! Have been having the most horrendous braxton hicks contractions since 32 weeks! To the point at 34 weeks I ended up going to the hospital. They said the contractions while clearly there on the monitor were not causing any changes (dilation/effacement) so sent me home, told to rest, increase clear fluids etc and to come back if they didn't settle as in if they continued every 5 minutes without breaks in-between. I can get an hour or so break during the day from these but at night they just feel constant and I am flat out EXHAUSTED. I have two other children at home and having to get school work etc done with them so not even getting a nap during the day to make up for the lack of sleep and I don't know how much longer I can cope with this, baby is also measuring very big (as did the first two and were both nearly 9lbs) so I am ginormous and already bigger than I was with my first at full term. They've already said they won't induce unless baby jumps up more on the percentiles so will let me go another two weeks further and I can't face that 😭 any tips on how to get labour going willing to try anything! Baby is head down and 3/5 engaged and in the perfect (loa) position for birth, midwife thinks I'll go soon but obviously no guarantee! Sorry for going on, just so bloody sore and miserable! 😭 Thanks in advance!

Some evidence that sex might help ripen the cervix, nipple twiddling can help release oxytocin as can organisms. But realistically you’ll be likely to go into labour at a similar time as your first two- what gestation were you with them?

@Isadora2007 I was induced with both of them. The first was the day after her due date because they didn't want her getting any bigger and the second was at 39 weeks due to having vasovagel (fainting) attacks. So I've never actually naturally gone into labour 🙈

Sex worked for me with my second at 38 weeks. I was 41 weeks when I went into labour with my first.

@sproutsnbacon thanks! Will have to give that a go tomorrow 🙈 haven't exactly felt like it much being so huge but I'm desperate now!!

I’ve been trying everything to get baby out since 38 weeks. Sex, orgasm, nipple stimulation, clary sage, pineapple.

Unfortunately absolutely nothing works. Due date is today and cervix is still high and back so far. As much as I hate to say it, babies really won’t budge until they’re ready.

My best friend is a midwife; she always advises people to clean the floor on all 4's and sit on a birthing / gym ball every time you go to sit on the sofa ..... worked for her she went into Labour at 37 weeks

I was 41 + 6 when my DS1 was born. Was due to be induced at 41 + 5 but ended up contracting on my own. Labour was quick, well for a first time. 6 hours all in.

Prior to that I had tried everything in the book with the exception of castor oil. Nothing worked. Even when I arrived at the hospital at 41 + 5 I wasn't dilated at all. I honestly think babies comes when they are ready and nothing will actually send you into labour. I think for some it could just be a coincidence.

I danced around the kitchen vigorously. Contractions started that night at 37 weeks

swiftt8919 · 27/01/2021 12:56

I'm afraid that nothing worked for me. Baby will come when they're ready! Sorry! 37 weeks is also still very early.

I tried everything with all 4 including acupuncture all induced in the end for being overdue.

Hopefully only another few weeks!!!

My official labours were very speedy with 3 & 4 just took a while to get into labour!
