Hello, has anyone experienced a water birth at St Thomas’s hospital? This is my second pregnancy and I’m keen to give water birth a go - wasn’t able to do it with my first as was overseas. My first labour was only 2 hours so am a bit nervous this one will be quick as well. All advice about St Thomas’s appreciated!

I can't give any advice about a water birth as I went for an epidural but I did give birth at St Thomas's last year. Found the setup for the birth was great - gave epidural quickly, the midwives were lovely and kept us well informed so we felt safe even when baby was having a few changed in heart rate. After the birth, we definitely had slightly longer than quoted hours in the labour room with my husband even with covid restrictions.

We stayed a few days in postnatal ward, which may or may not be relevant for you. I didn't love it as I wanted to be back home. Though staff were obviously busy, they were all very kind and the midwife assistants in particular were really helpful.

No experience but interested to know as well as I’m due here later on this year
