Waters breaking at 32 weeks?

Hi ladies.

I'm a little concerned as just went for number 2 (TMI) and during I felt something come out of my vagina. I'm not sure whether it was discharge or my waters but at the same time baby was wriggling quite a lot. I still can't really tell the difference between braxton hicks and him moving also as sometimes it just feels like he's shoved his whole body up against mine making it tight and heavy (I had this sensation when I stood up). I've put a liner on to see over the next hour if anything else happens but what do you think? I'm 32+5 and yesterday was 3/5 engaged. First baby.

It's really hard to say what it is but you're doing the right thing putting the liner in. Ring the midwife and see what they want you to do. I expect theyll see you and check pad to see if its amniotic fluid or not

If you’re worried call your midwife and they will get you checked. The risk of infection is high once waters go and it’s not worth the risk.

Thankyou both. I'm going to have some lunch and give them a call as baby is still really kicking up a fuss!

This sounds exactly like me at 31+6.
Baby was born about 3 hours later!
Did spend 6 weeks in special care but now an adult and a high flyer. No problems at all.

@Phie04
This happend to me with my first baby

Get on the phone to your maternity unit ASAP as if your waters have gone they may want to administer a steroid injection to help keep the little one in for as long as possible. Please don't sit waiting for something to happen or not as the longer the baby stays in the better and increased movement is a sign they could be coming.

My daughter came at 33 weeks and she was tiny but fine

Sending you virtual hugs 🤗

Yes, please call the labour ward!
My waters went at 35 weeks, DS was born 3 days later but I was put on antibiotics to prevent infection. All will be well, but do go and get checked out, don't sit at home waiting!

I was admitted at 31 weeks for the same thing. Put the pad in and phone triage. They can do a test and/or scan you - if you are losing your waters they will talk to you about next steps. For me it wasn't all my water so I had steroid injections and was sent away the next day with antibiotics and weekly scans from that point. They will risk assess with you about where baby is safest and then you can make a decision.

Fingers crossed all is ok op, do get checked out

Phie04 · 26/01/2021 18:02

Just got home. They monitored baby and said he was happy enough without doing any checks so Il just keep an eye on things!
