Induced early due to small baby?

Hi am hoping for someone to calm my nerves a little! Bit of background I am 34 weeks now and had my 3rd growth scan today, the 2 previous scans baby was just on 10th centile, today she has gone just below the 5th and I’ve been given no explanation as to why and google isn’t reassuring me what so ever haha! I know everyone’s experiences are different so just hoping you guys could share a few with me:-) I’ll be having another growth scan in 2 weeks and will obviously go from there but I can’t help but worry as to why she’s dropped on the centiles. Oh I’m so sorry to hear this. I know how frightening it is. At a routine scan at 36+5 weeks my baby had dipped to around the 5th percentile. I was induced the following week. He ended up coming out at a respectable 6lb 10oz which is fairly average for that gestation. The growth chart they were plotting him against was personalised for a woman of my height and BMI. It seems that because I’m tall and overweight they expected him to be bigger at that stage. But anyway they weren’t prepared to take any risks and along he came. Not so small really and very healthy. Hindsight is a beautiful thing though but I do feel like he was evicted unnecessarily... but the alternative is unthinkable and it was the right decision.

It is most likely that your baby is just a little small but perfectly healthy. Did they say if your placenta had good blood flow etc? If so then it’s unlikely to be IUGR. It’s good they are monitoring you. The fact you’re already 34 weeks is great! Believe me if they were really worried you would have been induced today.

Sending a hand hold though as I know how scary this is and not the way you expect things to pan out x
