pregnancy and miscarriage

Hi, I'm an 18 year old on the Nexplanon implant. I know the chances of getting pregnant on it are very low but it is not 0 and I actually know someone who has gotten pregnant while on it. I haven't had my period since 2019 December (when I got my implant) but few days ago I started heavy bleeding with some days of it being light and I've also had really bad cramps and back pains. This morning when I was changing my pad, a big blood clot came out and the more I looked at it the more it looked like a foetus. I did google some stuff and some of the miscarriage signs did apply to me. Now I am unsure whether I was pregnant or not, I didn't take pregnancy test because I thought the implant was enough. SO right now, I am unsure whether I have had a miscarriage or not and I'm wondering if anyone could help me with this. (I have spoken to my man about this and he has been very supportive but this is also his first experience so there's only so much we know)

If you had a mc then pregnancy tests will still come up positive for a 1 weeks+ afterwards depending on gestation. If a test comes up negative then unfortunately you'll probably never know either way.
If you do find it's a mc there are lots of support forums to aid grief and you may want to rethink contraception choices going forward. Good luck

If a test comes back negative unfortunately you will never know for sure. I did have a cycle like this while TTC where I passed a clot and had a lot more pain but for me and at the time I thought it might be a MC but now I don't think it was. I saw my GP and she said that just passing a clot can be quite painful and there are several causes for them. I've since had 2 confirmed MC and they were different to that. One of them stopped developing at 5wks from LMP (foetus only measured 1.2mm at that point so you wouldn't see it) I had 1 bigger clot which was the sac about half the size of my palm and several smaller clots. If you were further on than that you would probably have realised? Definitely when I had a MC at 9 weeks I had a lot of clots some as big as my palm and it took a long time to pass everything - around a week.

None of this is to take anything away from how you are feeling and there's no right and wrong with any of this. I know with the cycle where I was TTC I still had the thought of what might have been and felt sad about it.
