Has anyone taken a beta blocker for anxiety during pregnancy?

Hiya all, I suffer from immense public speaking anxiety. I took 20mg propranolol tablets a few years back and they were an absolute godsend. Its like I was free... I was still nervous but no shaking hands, shaking voice, pounding heart. It was such a relief. Now at my current job I'm needing to do weekly presentations again and I dread them for days on end and just get a pit in my stomach thinking about it. Seems as though the safety of propranolol in pregnancy is mixed but I'd love to try this again even if I started with a 10mg dose to see if it helps. Such a shame if its off limits as it really gave me my life back. Wondering if anyone has taken an occasional 10-20mg weekly and its all turned out ok? Or perhaps a larger dose for a cardiac issue? I've tried natural remedies like rescue remedy, meditation, even therapy but when it comes down to that moment my adrenaline starts pumping and the panic takes over and I'm a mess again. I really appreciate any thoughts. I am only 7 weeks and have a scan this coming Friday so I plan to ask my doctor then but was just wondering for now.

I shouldn't say "mixed" safety i meant unclear.

The only beta blockers that are safe in pregnancy is labetalol. I think it's unlikely they'd let you take it for anxiety unless you also have elevated blood pressure because pregnancy also lowers your blood pressure so taking a beta blockers could lower it to dangerous levels. I think you can use rescue remedy in pregnancy however but check that

Labetalol is not safe in pregnancy either. All beta blockers can cause IUGR. I'm having to be weaned off propranolol atm, and even though I have pretty serious cardiac issues, they've told me there is no beta blocker that is safe during pregnancy.

I've also used them for public speaking for years. I asked my GP if it was safe to continue in pregnancy as my job requires a presentations, leading groups etc around once a week. She said she had no concerns about occasional use for that, it was more of an issue for people who were on them every day like for a cardiac issue. She advised trying a half dose to see if I can manage on that but otherwise didn't see a reason to stop using them as I was. I'm more cautious about using them now and only when I really need to, but I'm at 25 weeks now and all is looking good.

Meant to say I take propanolol. Usually 40mg but as I said I usually halve the dose now.

Is labetlol not safe ?
I was given it to treat high blood pressure caused by pre eclampsia during my first pregnancy?

I need propranolol for a serious sleeping disorder which induces large Adrenalin surges. I usually take 3x40mg tablets over 2/3 nights and it breaks the cycle meaning I can sleep again. Without it I would have become very ill. I did this in first pregnancy and had a beautifully healthy 8lb 5oz baby. And have had to use it in second pregnancy and I'm due in 4 weeks. This baby also looks like a chunky baby, no birthweight issues.
Obviously if you can go without then that's best, but occasional use should be absolutely fine.

Hey, appreciate this post was a while ago but I’m pretty much in the exact same position so keen to know what you did/advice you received? I’m 7 weeks and have a presentation next week, 20mg of propranolol is all I need but I’m so worried it will harm baby 😭
