A relative had covid when she was pregnant, symptoms were mild and the baby was absolutely fine! She was in 2nd trimester, try not to worry x

I contracted covid at ten and a half weeks pregnant. I was really unwell for three weeks, and only now at 16 weeks am I feeling more or less back to normal (although I still can't smell much). Had a scan a couple of weeks ago and everything looked fine 😊

Thank you ladies..
I’m 17 weeks and such a worry isn’t it?
Not much online research wise and no extra checks during the pandemic
I’ve booked a reassurance scan for when I’m out of isolation because I’m so anxious

Xxxxx

Hi Melissa, I’m also healthcare. Caught covid at just under 20 weeks before Christmas. Have passed my isolation periods etc and had in depth scans since and baby is doing fine, and I’ve no lasting effects. Hope you feel better yourself soon and get the reassurance you’re seeking x

I caught covid at 30 weeks pregnant... well, let's say it completely wiped me out. I was in hospital for a week, I've managed to stay out of hospital for just over a week now. Finally starting to get back to normal life but I am still not better yet. Baby is absolutely fine, midwives rang me a few times whilst in hospital just to make sure me and baby was okay and they have been brilliant since, making sure I know that I can ring them or see them whenever I like Thanks

I tested positive for covid just over 2 weeks ago I am now 7+5 so very early on. Ive done nothing but worry sick about baby as covid really took its toll. Ive spoken to my GP who didnt seem concerned and just advised to stay hydrated and plenty of rest. I've got my 1st midwife phone app on Thursday so I will mention then too. Ive had awful nausea and actual morning sickness today so hoping these are all good signs that babys doing ok. I think my symptoms now are more pregnancy related more than covid. Xx

Bambam2019 · 25/01/2021 12:40

Hey! I tested positive at 30 weeks. Due to give birth anytime now, but so far baby seems okay, normal movements etc! I had very mild symptoms, but was still worried so contacted the maternity unit and they just said to keep an eye on movements as that’s all I could do! If you are worried I’m sure you can contact them for some reassurance!
Hope you are feeling well ASAP x

I'm 27 weeks and tested positive on Friday just gone. I've had pretty mild symptoms - basically feel like I've got a really heavy cold. I'm pretty worn out and I'm really congested. I'm being monitored pretty closely but I think it depends on which area you are in. I've also been given blood thinners to inject as theres been some research in to covid increasing clotting risk in pregnancy. I'm also really worried but all my googling suggests that on the whole pregnant women seem to get a milder case possibly due to the reduced immune response in pregnancy. It also looks like it can't cross the placenta but baby may be born with antibodies so that's also good.

Ginandshinythings · 25/01/2021 14:28

@sylbunny do you mind me asking your symptoms? You mention being really congested and I have what I assume to be a heavy cold, I'm due my twenty week scan and obviously these symptoms don't come under covid so no need to isolate but I'm considering taking a test and isolating just to be sure.

PregnantGotCovid · 25/01/2021 14:33

Hi I'm 29 weeks, also am hcp. I got a positive lateral flow test 2 weeks ago. I had no symptoms at first apart from slight cold symptoms. After a few days, got fever and fatigue, plus bad cold symptoms. Very little cough.

2 weeks in and now I'm just feeling very tired. Had a scan this morning (this was planned, nothing to do with covid) and baby is fine.

Take a test. I only had cold symptoms at first, only knew I was positive due to lateral flow test.

Hi there , i am 6 weeks and have also tested positive, i am booking an early scan as i had a miscarriage 6 months ago so am pretty on edge. Symptoms have been sneezing, headache, backpains, temperature, fatigue. I thought it was the beginning of a cold as well x

Starstella21 · 25/01/2021 22:28

I'm a midwife and caught Covid at 10 weeks, really horrible and worrying and felt like I had awful flu, muscle aches, headaches, temp. Luckily it didn't got to my chest. I did get signed off work for another 8 days beyond the 10 day isolation also, there is now way I could have gone back in that soon.
I'm now 13 weeks and my nuchal scan was fine, baby moving lots and the sonographer told me all the Covid baby scans have been generally ok and they are not seeing many ill effects so try not to worry too much.
My trust has a dedicated Covid team now run by midwives and doctors who are shielding themselves, I would advise you all to contact your trust if you are positive for Covid as most trusts will have systems in place for monitoring. You may also be offered blood thinner injections.

sylbunny · 26/01/2021 14:13

@Ginandshinythings sorry I've just seen this! I started with really blocked sinuses which I just put down to pregnancy and then I had a migraine one night. Really sensitive to light and paracetamol wasn't touching it. We do the Zoe app so it recommended a test to us and my daughters nursery had had an outbreak.

I'm finding it really hard to find the energy to do anything. I'm completely exhausted and feel like my limbs are made of lead. My sinuses also feel like they are on fire and I've almost completely lost my sense of smell.

@Starstella21 yes this is what they are doing in my area! I'm monitored daily by a call and I have blood thinners to inject for a fortnight
