Cybex Cloud Z - unsupported head - help

Does anyone have the Cybex Cloud Z? We were about the pull the trigger after a lot of research but I’ve just read a few reviews that say newborns heads/necks aren’t well supported as you can’t recline the seat whilst it’s in the car.
Does anyone has ever a view on this?
Car seat looks great otherwise but I don’t want to be worried constantly that she’s having problems breathing if this is a common issue with the seat.
Thanks in advance everyone!

We bought it but i haven't tried it yet.
I am not sure any car seat is meant to recline whilst in the car? Isn't that unsafe?
Baby shouldn't spend much time in the seat anyway.
Where did you have that worry from?

Nat4392 · 24/01/2021 21:37

I have this (also yet to use) but the head support is adjustable and can be moved as baby grows, this is the first I’ve heard about it not offering enough support so I wouldn’t worry.
@SunnySideUp2020 it doesn’t recline whilst in the car, the recline is only for when on the pram/being used as stand-alone carrier etc

I've ordered this but it hasn't arrived yet - it should only recline when out of the car, it's been safety tested in the upright position. The head support is adjustable to fit your baby's size. It's as safe as anything else on the market as it is i-size rated.

A newborn shouldn't be in the car seat for a long spell (I think it's 45 minutes at a time but I'd need to check this). But with the cloud z you can do the time driving, then get the seat out and recline it (keeping the baby in the seat) rather than having to take them entirely out of the seat. So you could recline it then keep them in for a pop round the supermarket, for example.

We have this car seat and haven’t had this issue. We think it is a great car seat.

We also ordered this just today!

It’s my understanding that the seat shouldn’t be reclined when it’s in the car, so that shouldn’t be an issue. It just means when the baby is small, you can do long journeys and need to take regular breaks.

Thanks everyone for your messages. You have reassured me for sure!
I read that it’s because it does recline at all in the car (also agree that it shouldn’t due to safety issues) that this means the baby sits quite upright and this can force their head forward. I read it on 3 or 4 reviews, but generally most reviews seem really positive which is why I thought I’d see if any Mumsnetters had this issue. I haven’t read about the adjustable head support feature though so sounds more like user error in those reviewers.
Final question - is it very heavy? Worried that once I have a cute chubby baby in there as well at the 4.8kg I’m going to struggle to carry it far. Hoping it’ll just be between the car and the house which is only a little way anyway, but wondering if anyone found it too heavy?

Honestly yes. It is heavy. But to me most car seats are!

Hi we have this car seat and are really pleased with it! Haven’t noticed any issues with the head support. We love it. It works well with the recline once out the car, and the swivel feature is so handy. It is heavy, but I’ve carried a few friends’ car seats too and they all seem pretty heavy to be honest.
