Hey everyone

Is it true that spicy foods are not good in early pregnancy?

No, not true at all thankfully. The only foods you should avoid are the one in the current NHS list.

Spicy food is also fine when you're BFing too Smile

No, they’re fine! I craved spicy food like mad in early pregnancy.

Remember that millions of babies are born every year in countries where spicy food is the norm and they’re fine!

Thanks ladies... maybe a silly question but why is it things like spicy food or pineapple are encouraged to kick start labor? Then wouldn’t these foods be risky if consumed a lot during early pregnancy x

@FruitLoopzz it's absolutely fine in pregnancy to eat spicy foods.

Spicy foods are recommended to try and start labour if your body is already ready as they are more likely to give you an upset stomach which can kick start things. This is only when you are full term and ready anyway though!

Teakind · 23/01/2021 21:49

You may find you go off them later in pregnancy anyway though due to increased heartburn : )

Unfortunately it's a myth that spicy foods bring on labour.

Whatever it is that you are fancying, I'd just eat it and enjoy Smile

Not at all. I love all the spice lol
