Dentist check ups

Has anybody had a check up whilst pregnant and in lockdown? Both my dentist and midwife have said I should go for a check up but I really don’t feel comfortable going at the moment. I’m 28 weeks pregnant so have been avoiding going out anywhere other than for walks. Will it do me any harm to just wait until after the baby is here?
My last appointment was over a year ago as my appointment was due last May when they were closed. Just wondering what others would do in this situation? Thanks.

I had a check up recently and it was absolutely fine. Like you, I was nervous as I had my last appointment before the March 2020 lockdown so wasn’t sure what to expect. It was completely fine though and they were very strict in the procedures followed

I don't think you need to hold off.
I have taken all our kids for their checkups but don't have mine until March. The dentists are covid safe if you're worried about that, they were very hygienic pre-covid anyway. At ours a nurse greeted us at door, checked temps and gave us hand sanitiser. They take you through the building opening all doors for you and there are very few patients in the building at the same time anyway.

It’s absolutely fine to see your dentist. I’m a dental nurse and pregnant and still working and I can assure you it’s a very safe place. It’s better to get a check up now to make sure you have no problems, particularly before baby arrives and you won’t have time!

Thanks all, I was hoping you would say don’t go 🙈 lol perhaps I’ll have to just go then! I suppose it’s no more of a risk than going to my midwife appointments!

Safer than midwife appointments I reckon. Dentists cross infection regimes are always impeccable and even more so now. A check up is never wasted, particularly around maternity.

I went for my check up a couple of weeks ago at 28 weeks, bonus if you do need any work done it’s free whilst pregnant!

Definitely go, I wish I could. My dentist stopped doing nhs and moved everyone to private during lockdown last year so I can’t afford to go now. Typical as I need a filling and being pregnant should of had it free
