Anyone due for their 12 week scan?

Mine is on Thursday and I am really excited (I had to have an early scan around 8 weeks and was amazing to say baby then and I can’t wait to see how much he/she has developed since!) but also feeling very anxious to know that everything is OK with baby.

My 12 week scan has actually fallen on 13 weeks as that is the earliest scan the hospital was able to offer me but I just wondered whether there was anyone else out there experiencing the 12 week scan jitters? Smile Xx

I had my 12 weeks scan last week and have my second 12 week scan on Tuesday (they got my dates wrong!). So I've had the reassurance of seeing the baby but none of the checks (NT etc) or the combined test.

I'm sure it will all go well for you but totally understand your nerves.

@India999 Ah your 12 week scan must have been a great experience, even better that you’re able to see baby twice in almost a week! Grin I am going for the combined screening too so hopefully all OK. Hope everything goes well for you on Tuesday Xx

@sunshinecitrus1 I had mine yesterday at 12 + 5 and it was so wonderful 💕 it went on for about 15 mins as the sonographer took lots of measurements and had to keep encouraging baby to move to help her. Meant I just got to lay back and look at baby kicking and wriggling around. I wasn’t too nervous as I had been seen by EPU two weeks previously and felt reassured as everything looked OK then. I had the screening done too so just waiting on my results ☺️ Xx

@MintGreenLife Ah how lovely! 💗 I literally cannot wait until Thursday and hopefully have the same experience as you! 😊 Obviously not good you had to visit the EPU but good you had that reassurance from a couple of weeks ago. I had my early scan around the 8 week mark and everything was OK then so hoping for the same on Thursday. All the best with your screening results! Xx

@sunshinecitrus1 bet it feels like time is dragging! It did for me, I was counting down the days! I had some spotting which is why I ended up at EPU, but it turned out I had a polyp on my cervix and the bleeding was nothing to do with the pregnancy, so that was a relief! Thanks so much, you’ll have to let me know how your scan goes xx

sunshinecitrus1 · 23/01/2021 11:04

@MintGreenLife Oh it really does! I had been waiting for my scan date letter for what felt like ages too and it never came so I ended up calling up the hospital and booking it in myself. Wish I’d called earlier now and maybe then I wouldn’t have had to wait until 13 weeks lol. I’m really glad your bleeding was nothing to do with your pregnancy, what a relief Smile I had a blood clot around 7 weeks hence my early scan and the same as you, it hadn’t affected baby and I was told it should clear up on its own. So far so good Smile Have you shared your news with people yet? Thank you, yes I will definitely let you know Flowers Xx

@sunshinecitrus1 in my head having your scan a bit later isn’t a bad thing as it helps break up the time between now and the next scan! Ah sorry to hear you had a similar experience, I was a wreck as had it for three days before EPU saw me, wouldn’t wish it on anyone! Glad to hear your bleeding turned out to be OK too 💕 yep we’ve told our parents and siblings, as well as a handful of close friends. How about yourself? Xx

sunshinecitrus1 · 23/01/2021 13:18

@MintGreenLife Actually yeah you’re right that’s a really good way of looking at it. I guess even though both of our scans were that little bit later, we’d both had the opportunity to see baby earlier too (even if not on the best circumstances) but that is always nice 😊 Mine was a bright red gush of blood that happened only once and I had to wait a week for the scan thanks to Christmas! Ah that’s nice, our parents and siblings know already and so does my best friend. All being well on Thursday we will tell others next weekend 😊🤞🏼 Is this your first baby? Xx

@sunshinecitrus1 ah that must have been so scary! Glad it was just the once though. You must have been wishing Christmas away so you could go for a scan. Ah lovely 💕 yep it’s our first. I’m 32 and my husband is 30. How about yourself? Xx

JustMouse · 23/01/2021 14:29

I'm also having my scan on Thursday. Feeling like a bag of nerves at the moment.

I had a private scan at 8 weeks and all was good. So fingers are so tightly crossed that all is ok on Thursday as well.

sunshinecitrus1 · 23/01/2021 17:07

@MintGreenLife Yeah I was really anxious about it and the wait for the scan was hell. I didn’t enjoy Christmas that much because of it as well as being so exhausted and feeling nauseous. Glad that that part seems to be over for now! Yeah it is our first baby too. I am almost 29 and OH is 37. Xx

@JustMouse We have had very similar journeys so far Smile I had an 8 week scan too, all was OK and now holding out for next Thursday. Really hope these next few days go fast. I hope everything goes well with your scan, you’ll have to let me know Smile

@sunshinecitrus1 ah sorry to hear that. How are you feeling now symptom wise? Ahh lovely 💕

sunshinecitrus1 · 23/01/2021 22:35

@MintGreenLife Overall I think I have been really lucky on the symptoms front. Although I felt nauseous and lost my appetite, I wasn’t physically sick once. The hardest part for me was tiredness and lack of appetite, I’m usually such a foodie so it was hell lol! Now I don’t really have a lot of symptoms, I still get tired sometimes and have had headaches recently but overall I am feeling more myself now than I was Smile What about you, how was your first trimester? Xx

MintGreenLife · 24/01/2021 09:09

@sunshinecitrus1 ah we are very similar! Like you I felt like I got away with very minimal symptoms in the first trimester. I had some mild nausea, but no physical sickness. My main symptom was sore boobs and some fatigue. I’m the same - I feel my normal self now! Are you planning on finding out the sex of baby? X

sunshinecitrus1 · 24/01/2021 09:28

@MintGreenLife Ah that’s really good you were lucky too! I am very grateful that I didn’t have to deal with sickness as I know many women suffer a lot with that. They do say that the second trimester is the kindest Smile Yeah I am going to find out the sex of baby. I never thought I would have wanted to but now I’m pregnant I don’t think I can wait lol. What about you? Xx

@sunshinecitrus1 I’m officially in my second trimester today 💕 ah lovely. Yes we will find out, I’ve always known I would want to find out, just feel like I couldn’t wait to know! Xx

sunshinecitrus1 · 24/01/2021 18:17

@MintGreenLife Ah yay! Must feel like you have hit a massive milestone today 😄 I agree, not quite sure how I would wait now! I am sure you and your husband would be happy either way but are either of you secretly hoping for a boy or girl!? Xx
