Hiya,

After my partner and I did a 180 on having kids, I stopped the pill last year. After a few worried months of waiting for my period, it finally turned up just after xmas. I rather enthusiastically tried one of the early detection tests on Wed and BFP! My partner is in shock and keeps saying "you told me it would take a year!

I don't feel pregnant yet, but last night I had excruciating cramps that left me writing on the bathroom floor for 20 mins, and throwing up. Last time I felt anything near this, was when I was 13 and used to get really bad period pains.
Is this normal? I know that cramps are common in early pregnancy but everything I have read says 'mild. I felt fine after about half an hour or so, and have been fine since, no bleeding before/during/after.

My partner and I have agreed not to tell anyone before 12 week mark due to risk of complications, but since that test, it has been all consuming and another 8 weeks seems an impossibly long time. Does it get easier ?!

thanks. x

I don’t think cramps that result in you throwing up is normal and would contact 111 to get checked out.

If the pain was one sided and had you writhing on the floor I'd recommend closely monitoring and requesting referral to An EPU about a possible ectopic pregnancy if it happens again

@AgnesNaismith
@ivfbeenbusy

thanks for the advice. I ended up speaking to a nurse when I had my flu jab who was reasuring but basically said if it happened again to call 111. No pain since, so fingers crossed all good! x
