So on October 17-19th I had sex with guy #1. I got my period on october 21st, I think. (It was a tuesday) I had it until the following Sunday. I then had sex with man number 2 between october 31st-November 9th. I kept testing negative. I tested neg October 28th, November 4th, Novemeber 10th and I think Nov 18th. I finally got a positive on Nov 24th and had an hcg level of 170 on Nov 25th than an hcg of 311 on the 27th. I had an ultrasound on Dec 1 (vaginal) no yolk sac, fetal pole or anything. sac measuring 4.1 mm. Then dec 20th I had one at 8w6 days baby measuring 7 w 2 days. Then on jan 20th I had one at 12w 6 days baby measuring about 11w 2 days/11 w 4 days. My question is who is the father? Im going to get the prenatal dna test but I would like some reassuring because I feel sick to my stomach over this for the past how many months. Is it possible it could be from october 17-19th???

2nd guy Smile

grapefruitish · 21/01/2021 20:00

I would say guy number 2!

Freshair85 · 21/01/2021 20:06

Very very unlikely to be the first guy. Hope that's good news!

ShowOfHands · 21/01/2021 20:22

You are 11.5 wks pregnant and the ultrasound dates all indicate you conceived around November 10th. It's guy 2.

@ShowOfHands do you mean like 11.5 weeks gestation? or since baby has been conceived?

What due date have you been given?

@ShowOfHands between july 28th and first week of august.

its guy 2

ShowOfHands · 21/01/2021 20:59

For it to be guy 1, you'd be 15+ weeks and due in the first 2 weeks of July, not the beginning of August.

But you've had a period between the two guys, a test which matches the 2nd guy (and negatives ruling out guy 1) AND 3 ultrasounds with matching dates and you're still worried so the dna test will hopefully help you accept this.

@ShowOfHands thank you! I do accept it being guy #2. but guy #2 constantly badgers me about it so im trying to reassure him.

The minute you miss your period your 4 weeks pregnant even though you only had sex 2 weeks ago. I don’t know why it works like that but they go from the date of your last period, so it’s guy number 2

@Whitecup4 im just confused as to why id be measuring less than my gestation age according to my lmp. is that because i ovulated later?

Yes, people ovulate and have all different types of lengths for their periods. My cycle is 5-6 weeks long

@Whitecup4 mine usually once a month but i got it around sept 28th then again the 21st but i think its because i took plan b after having sex with the guy in october maybe it caused my period to come a bit sooner? but i also never pay attention to it like i did when i found out i was pregnant.

Two people could ovulate and conceive today and they'd have the same due date (ignoring any difference for implantation times of course) but woman one might be ovulating late or have longer cycles and be on day 25, while woman two might be on day 11 of her much shorter cycle. They'd have the same due date but their last menstrual periods were 2 weeks apart. Chuck in woman 3 who has PCOS and hasn't had a period for 5 months and woman 4 who is breastfeeding her 11 month old and hasnt had a period for nearly 2 years and you'll see that the last period date is irrelevant.

Your period is irrelevant now. As soon as you've had scans, those dates are accurate. You are as pregnant as the three ultrasounds say you are.

It's because before we had scans and advanced modern science, pregnancy was simply dated from what people knew and people knew when they last bled and on average, that was 40 weeks before the baby arrived. And the period and thickening of the uterine lining and all that stuff during the 14 days before conception are all part of the process of the body prepping for that pregnancy so I sort of think it's quite nice to count those 2 weeks officially. Acknowledging the bit your body did to welcome the egg first is quite lovely. It seems very polite!

@ShowOfHands okay so then no matter what every pregnancy has a 2 week gestation period no matter when it starts?

Exactly. On the day you conceive, you are considered to be 2 weeks pregnant.
