Sage Burns???

My husband and I both love the name Sage for our baby girl. The only issue is that our last name is Burns, making her name ‘Sage Burns’. If you saw this name would you think it’s weird? My concern is that it sounds like burning sage.

I like Sage as a name but I wouldn't use it with your surname.

I would assume she came from a family that believed in the occult or were slightly hippy-ish. Which isn't a bad thing at all! Just something to consider.

I'm biased because Sage is one of my favourite names for boys and girls. If you really love it could you use a double barrelled surname, or hyphenated first name? (I know MN hates both of those, but oh well.)

If you really love it, I find that no matter what someone's name is, you stop thinking about how it's "weird" after awhile and it's just their name. So the issue is only when some people first hear the name.

Some of the time you could mitigate that by using a middle name too. I'm thinking of things like when you first announce your baby's name, or on school enrollment forms, etc

Sorry agree with PPs. Love the name Sage but not with the surname. Sounds like a cult/occult name of someone into some weird hippy things. I'm having a bit of trouble with our surname as well so I can imagine it's frustrating not being able to use certain lovely names!
