Hi hoping someone can make me feel a bit better tonight.

So I have been between a size 14-16 before becoming pregnant. Starting to wear 16-18's. I recently weighed myself and I've put on just under a stone since becoming pregnant. Im just short off 16weeks.

The 1st 2 months or so i rarely ate with being quite sick & just did not want any food. I haven't been eatting great really since. Wouldnt say i've been over eatting bad food because theres still some days i don't fancy food.

Is just under a stone gain bad for 16 weeks? I'm worrying i'm going to gain so much more now🙈😓

I gained 10kg throughout my pregnancy, so just under a stone and a half.

I’m 18 weeks and have gained half a stone . Everyone is different . Don’t worry about it too much x

I have googled so many threads on this as in a similar position. By 16 weeks I had only gained 2lbs however I am now 23 weeks and gained 12lbs.

I am using this chart to help me keep on track somewhat: www.calculator.net/pregnancy-weight-gain-calculator.html

I'm 36 weeks and I've gained 4 stone but I was only 9 stone to start with. I'll admit I've used it as a bit of an excuse to eat what I normally wouldn't and the hunger until into the 3rd trimester was insatiable. It'll be a lot of work to loose it after but I'll be able to exercise properly again to. It is an uncomfortable feeling knowing you're putting on weight but there is a reason and it's not forever.

I’m someone who piles on the weight while pregnant too 🙈 although with both my pregnancies the weight gain stopped/slowed down by third trimester. The weight you put on ( or don’t put on) in the beginning isn’t always an indicator of what you will gain overall .

I also put on a lot of water weight so I don’t really know how much is actual baby weight . With my second baby I lost 10 kilo just by giving birth 😳.

I’m 10 weeks postpartum at the moment with second baby and still dropping weight . It does come off eventually with a bit of work .

Don't worry about it too much.
I gained 4 st in each of my 1st 2 pregnancies. I gained 2.5st with our 3rd, I was back to pre-pregnancy weight by 3 month post partum. With our twins I stopped weighing myself after the 2st gain mark, after birth I was 7lb heavier than pre-pregnancy and that came off within 3mth.
I always gain a chunk before I even find out I'm pregnant, comination of fluid retention, blood volume increase and a tendency to carb load.

I know it's hard, but try not to worry about it. All pregnancies are different and we all put on different amounts at different times.
With my first I put on roughly 3 stones. I'm currently 25 weeks with my second and I've put only put on 10lbs. With a bit of effort it does come off eventually.

I think I read somewhere that if you put on 25lbs in pregnancy that's pretty much all baby anyway.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 21/01/2021 10:36

I gained quite a bit of weight in the first trimester but I think it was mostly hormonal bloating/water weight and then didn’t get much bigger again until my bump grew after 20 weeks.

If you’re eating healthily and trying to keep a bit active, that’s all you can do.

If it’s any consolation I’m now 29 weeks and can only eat tiny meals because there’s just no space left for my stomach.. so it’s very hard to overeat at the moment.

Thankyou for all your comments. Guess i'll just have to forget about the weight for now & worry about it once baby is born. Maybe ill be lucky to lose a chunk once baby is out😆🤞

I wouldn't worry, it may be a lot of water. I gained 35lb with my first pregnancy. Baby weighed just under 7lb and a week post-birth with zero dieting I'd lost 27lb! My waters were immense!
