Too old? Not at all.
You'll cope because you need to. We are all more adaptable than we sometimes give ourselves credit for. You'll be fine, congrats and good luck

I had a child at 23 he's now 16 nearly 17. I also have a nearly 2 year old who I had when I was 38 and a nearly 10 month old who I had when I was 39. I'm not 40 and I must say having my younger 2 "older" was the best decision I ever made.

Yes it's more tiring now but I do have 2 under 2. They are exactly 12 months and 11 days apart.
I felt less tired when I had my son cos obviously I was younger but I have more patience and appreciate my younger 2 now that I'm older.
They also make me feel young again. It is hard work but not half as bad as I thought it would be, you also get used to the tiredness.
I love being being an older mum and sure you will. Congratulations

I'm now 40*

Congrats. My mumma had me and my twin brother at 40 and having kids later on in life is getting more and more common. You are at higher risk of complications being an older mum as im sure you know but it doesnt mean you cant go on to have a healthy baby. You'll have extra care and support thoughout and just try to keep yourself safe and healthy. Good luck!

Im 21 and 10/11 weeks pregnant with my first baby! I work with a mix of people of all ages, some in there late 30’s/40’s who are having their first pregnancy! It seems to be so much more common

Birdie1980 · 19/01/2021 14:35

Thanks Pfin it scares the hell out of me being honest and I haven't even thought about the next 20 years

Had my first at 41 - twins. Best thing I've ever done in my whole life and never felt better since. Turned 43 a couple of weeks ago at currently 15 weeks with my third 😊 Good luck OP being an older mum is amazing!

Dia12 · 19/01/2021 16:37

Congrats on your pregnancy op.
I just turned 41 and am also 11w pregnant with my first. Had a long journey to get here and still very nervous everyday but grateful and excited.
I know everyone seems much younger but people our age are still young and healthy and have much to offer as parents.

Congrats @SamoyedFan123, that's wonderful to hear and inspiring.

Here's to happy healthy pregnancies 🥂

SamoyedFan123 · 19/01/2021 19:17

@Dia12 thank you and congratulations! I remember you from a previous thread we were on together a couple of years ago - my username CritterTamer back then. I'm so glad everything is going week for you now xxx

SamoyedFan123 · 19/01/2021 19:17

Going well* even

Dia12 · 19/01/2021 19:23

Oh wow! Can you believe I was actually thinking of you the other day as I remember a little while ago you were talking about trying again. Nice to bump into you here.

I've been on every rollercoaster since ivf, fell preg naturally in April and was over the moon but unfortunately baby had a chromosomal issue so we had to have a tfmr in august.
Again, were planning ivf and then surprise natural pregnancy in Dec. Incredibly grateful but super stressed.
