25 weeks and struggling bad this time. Didn't really have any with my first. Am currently at work and have taken some rennie and drank peppermint tea but it's not doing much!

@abitfunny
I suffer heartburn terribly , the last couple of nights it's woke me up especially if I lie on my right side
I find comfort in taking 2 antacids - there seems to be a pack in every room
I've even shouted for my OH to bring me one when I'm in the bath. It strikes any time 😕

Have you tried milk ?
The gaviscon tablets leave a awful taste in my mouth , so I only take them as a lash option
I take Morrison's own tablets - you get more in a pack & there generally the same price as rennies

Hope you find something that works xxx

I've struggled with heartburn in all of my pregnancies. My third was the worst and I vomited daily. In my fourth someone said about contacting the GP (MWs had fobbed off with gaviscon and a shrug before) GP prescribed omeprazole and it was amazing.

Apparently peppermint tea is not good for heartburn!
I've been prescribed gaviscon by the doctor and it's helping loads! Maybe give your GP a call?

Go to your GP and get something prescribed... not Gaviscon though! Had heartburn bad with DS1 and was prescribed ranatidin but was told they no longer prescribe that so I have omeprazole this time and it's really helped!! Don't eat/drink caffeine, fizzy drinks, spicy food or anything too acidic and have dinner a good few hours before you go to bed. You've got my sympathies OP, it's the worst feeling! X

@abitfunny I feel your pain. I'm 30 weeks pregnant and had horrific heartburn since 20 weeks. Called the GP as rennies, gaviscon etc wasn't working and have been started on omeprazole and what a difference! No heartburn, no sickness

Give your GP a call

Love heart sweets have been my saviour

Nesski · 18/01/2021 17:16

Get your GP to give you omeprazole!

SunnyMountain · 18/01/2021 17:18

Omeprazole!

Chelyanne · 18/01/2021 17:21

Whole milk was all that helped me.

Cocomelons · 18/01/2021 17:49

Nothing will beat omeprazole but if you didn't want to have meds, a few things that work for me are lemon and ginger tea, peppermint tea, lemon barley water, sparkling water.

Thanks ladies - I think a call to the GP is in order as it's still bad today!

I read almonds or some almond drink, which I have been trying and it seems to be working. Maybe worth a try.

I had awful heartburn in my pregnancy (and yes, baby was born with a LOT of hair!). I just lived off Gaviscon, it had to be the aniseed one though, the mint one didn’t work as well
