2nd Miscarriage in a Row

Hi Everyone

Im currently having my 2nd Miscarriage since October.
My first i was 5+3 and happened naturally and this time im 7+1 and again its happening naturally.
I just dont know what to do. I have convinced myself there must be something wrong and im overthinking everything.
Just wondering if anyone has managed to have any tests after 2 Miscarriages or have they had to wait until they have had 3 losses like i have read?
Thanks xx

I'm sorry for your losses. I had two MCs last year one in February and one in June and I'm currently 21 weeks pregnant. It's been a tough journey but so far so good this time.

I wish you all the best

I had 3 mmc before going on to have my ds who is now nearly 3. I took 75mg aspirin from bfp worth him after asking gp about it. I was told it would be first thing rmc would suggest trying (I had been on the waiting list to see them for over a year at that point)
I am currently 11 weeks pregnant again and on advice of consultant I am on 150mg aspirin this time around due some placenta issues at the end of pregnancy with ds and that I had already been in 75mg.
Honestly im still a nervous wreck in this pregnancy and especially coming up to scans. Some having my mcs I have them heard of many family and friends who have all had at least one and who have all gone on to have healthy babies after. Gp can run some blood tests usually though if you all for things like gluten allergy, rubella immunity etc which can be contributing factors.

Hi. I just had my second MMC since August. First at 8 weeks and this one at 6 weeks. I really am so very sorry for your losses, it’s so heartbreaking. I’ve been told I won’t be offered any tests because we already have children, but that if we were to be it wouldn’t have been until we’d had 3 losses.

It’s interesting to read people’s experiences of Aspirin. It’s something I’d like to try. We’ve decided one more try and then that’s it, so I want to do all I can. Do people take just 1 75/150 mg dose per day?

All the best OP, these been lots of happy endings I’ve read so hopefully we can both be one of them Smile

After 3yrs TTC I had 2MC last year one in Jan passed naturally at 8wks (measured 5) and one at 9 weeks with medical management (measured 8, heartbeat seen at 8, another scan at 9 weeks showed no HB). I did manage to get thrombophilia screening after that because I have a history of blood clotting but it came back clear. The EPU also agreed to give me progesterone supplements if I got PG again I think because we'd been TTC for so long and I was 37. I'm now 29 weeks into my 3rd PG and everything's looking good. I'm not sure if the progesterone made a difference. I definitely had stronger lines with this BFP at the same point and worse MS. It can just be one of those things - I just wish there was a way of knowing. It plays on your mind so much and seems so heartless that they make you go through it 3 times before testing anything. Good luck OP.

I had 2 MMC, one July 2019 then another January 2020. Conceived again this summer and am now 35 weeks pregnant. I've just turned 44!

HungryHippo20 · 17/01/2021 16:18

@4Minions2CallMyOwn I just bought 75mg aspirin from Asda and started with one a day as soon as I got BFP. I hadn't previously got passed 8 weeks and read lots about aspirin helping implantation and blood flow to placenta. When I had 12 week scan they increased my dose to 150mg because I'm 40. They said 150mg is the new recommended dosage. I had told midwife at booking appointment that I was taking 75mg and although she couldn't say it was fine (as in they didn't prescribe at that point for me) she did say it wouldn't be harmful. So for me it was absolutely worth a try and here I am at 33 weeks expecting a baby girl 🥰

I had 2 recurrent mc last year. The first one at 6 weeks. OB then started me on progesterone when I fell pregnant again but unfortunately miscarried again at 12 weeks. Had a d&c in December and just stopped bleeding this week!

Those of you talking about aspirin, was it recommended by GP/OB?

I’m worried about trying again- I just don’t have the heart.

LANx · 17/01/2021 17:38

Hi @Scoaf I am so sorry for your losses, I was in the exact same situation as you this time last year, came off the pill in august fell pregnant in September which ended Mc naturally at 5 weeks, fell pregnant again before my next period so straight away again and this time it ended in a MMC in January 2020, I then tried again in the summer and I am now 23 weeks pregnant with a little boy who I can feel kicking as I type. Please don’t give up hope because I nearly did after the second one it’s truly heartbreaking and no one will understand unless they have been through it.

The only thing I have done different this time is take 75mg aspirin daily since my BFP! I don’t know if it’s the aspirin or a coincidence but my gp told me it wouldn’t hurt to try and it has worked! Wishing you all the luck in the world that you have your little rainbow baby soon xxx

Good Luck xx

@MrsRosiieP it wasn't recommended to me I had just done a lot of research. Midwife did say it wouldn't be harmful with such a low dose. I'm glad I took the chance but it was entirely my decision. Some people would prefer to have medical advice but I wasn't able to wait on a third miscarriage before that happened x

Fawn68 · 17/01/2021 21:04

@Scoaf @Scoaf very sorry to hear this! I too have had 2 miscarriages in a row, July and November 😔 they will only investigate here after 3 miscarriages. We haven't started trying again as I have been very unwell but I'm also very scared.

Your autoimmune condition, I have erythema nodosum at the moment which stemmed from strep throat. Which isn't auto immune but did you have erythema nodosum at all? With my most recent miscarriage I took very severe tonsillitis and I am convinced that factored in the miscarriage as was my doctor. Definitely speak to your doctor! I went to a fertility doctor and she recommended aspirin and progesterone but I've not spoke to my own gp about this yet. X

Fawn68 · 17/01/2021 21:10

Anyone who took aspirin, is it safe to take in the sense that if you did miscarry would it cause you to bleed an awful lot more? Or is the dosage low enough for this not to happen?
