How long after scan did your combine test results take?

I had my 12 week scan today. Everything looks healthy Smile which is of course a relief, but it was incredibly rushed (thanks to covid I assume) and i feel they gave us so much less information than we received with DS and DD.

I knew of course that we wouldnt receive any definitive results from the combined test (nuchal scan measurements and bloods) until we are contacted (due to high risk) or sent a letter (due to low risk). However I'm sure at our scans for DS and DD we at least had time to ask about whether measurements all look normal? Does anyone else have this perception, that they now tell you less at the scan?

They are also saying that it can take up to a week to be contacted for high risk and up to 3 weeks to receive a letter on risk assessment.

I'm 41 and very stressed about abnormalities being older. We arent telling anyone until we have the all clear, especially our two DCs. Anyone got their all clear letter sooner?

Thanks

What was your NT measurement?

kmini · 15/01/2021 22:05

They didnt give it to me. She said I had to wait to hear after the blood were done. Just showed us the baby, the heart, legs, arms. Nothing else. Whole appointment was less than 5 mins.

Midwives told me if anything flagged up as high risk then I’d hear 7-10 days after bloods were taken. Everything was fine but I asked at my 16 week appointment to double check x

reservoircats · 16/01/2021 07:02

I was told I'd hear the next day if I was high risk. Received a letter about 5 days after with my results

Sophagain · 16/01/2021 07:09

For my first we were told the nuchal fold was tiny and basically to go home and don’t think about it, all is fine and if you don’t hear by the end of the day, it’s fine. I think a letter came within a week. My second they said the nuchal fold was normal and we could stay at the hospital for the results but we decided not to as we thought the risks were very low based on our age etc. and previous experience. I think the letter took a bit longer than a week.

WalkingMeAway · 16/01/2021 07:22

Ahh that’s a shame, I was told my NT measurement during. Also I could see it on the screen. I was told 3days for a call of high risk. I received my letter exactly a week after my scan.

popcorndiva · 16/01/2021 07:50

It should be written on your scan notes. It usually says NT - 1.2 for example.

kmini · 16/01/2021 07:56

@reservoircats @walkingmeaway @reeva1988 @sophagain have any of these been recent experiences. Perhaps in the last 6 months?

Thanks

@kmini yes mine was 2 weeks ago x

cretelover · 16/01/2021 08:06

Recent experience, low risk result letter took a week. You can usually phone the hospital maternity area and they will tell you a little sooner too. High risk last time but a few years ago, scan on Friday results on Tuesday.

PurpleIsTheColour · 16/01/2021 08:09

I had my NT this Wednesday. My experience was a bit different than yours-it took 20min to even get the measurement as baby was asleep in an awkward position. Then she asked me to move around to wake up baby and it did work, but my little bean was so active it took 10 more mins to even get one single image. The NT was 1.1mm so she said it’s perfect and didn’t want to try for another pic as apparently it was going to take another half hour. I then had the bloods taken and was told that should hear within couple of days if high risk and if no call it means I’m low risk and the letter will arrive in 10 days.
I was given a pink paper that had the NT measurement, mine and the sonographer details. They also gave me another paper with the date of my 20 week scan. Check your notes for these as that’s where they had left mine.
Tbh I wouldn’t worry too much-if she hasn’t said anything to you at the scan your NT was most probably normal. They don’t confirm anything due to the bloods that can sometimes come as high risk due to the age or hormone levels, but even then the NHS testing is only about 80% correct and gives a lot of false positives. I would relax and if you don’t hear anything by Tuesday assume you’re fine. Xxx

eternalflame2020 · 16/01/2021 08:10

Hi, as pp mentioned it should be written on the report in your purple folder. I had mine in October and they didn't tell me the measurement then but I found it in the report. Letter came one week after confirming low risk.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 16/01/2021 08:14

I had my scan this week bit was too far gone for the nuchal measurement (now 15+6) had the bloods done and now just waiting. We also aren't telling our other dc until we get these results back so i do hope it doesnt take 3 weeks for us as i am getting a bit round!

AnxiousAnnie86 · 16/01/2021 08:16

@kmini I had my tests on Christmas Eve, she said I would hear within a couple of days by phone if I was high risk, I then got my letter confirming low risk within a couple of weeks x

Moo678 · 16/01/2021 08:18

I’m 19 wks now and 39 so was a bit worried. Didn’t feel scan was rushed - thought the sonographer was very good actually - probably the best I’ve had. I clocked him doing the nuchal thickness (which was 1.2) and commented that it was low at the time he agreed but didn’t say much else. Have you checked your notes? I think the nuchal thickness is recorded there. My letter took well over to week to come which is the slowest it’s ever been (4th baby) but I allowed myself to relax after a week as I thought they’d have phoned me by then if it was bad news. Good luck - hope you get your results soon x

Reeva1988 · 16/01/2021 08:18

Yeah mine was a month ago. I’m 17 weeks now x

kmini · 16/01/2021 08:20

I've had another look in my folder and found the scan information. Can anyone translate for me? 1.8 bad?

Looks normal readings to me. For a baby that is between 45mm and 88mm the normal range is 1.3-1.9.

Good luck!

namechangefail2020 · 16/01/2021 08:27

5 days

WalkingMeAway · 16/01/2021 08:27

1.8 is great, they’re not concerned with anything under 3.5mm. Of course the risk factor is combined using this, your age as blood results.

Mine was 2.2, I’m 38 and my results were 1/901 for downs and 1/10,000 for the others

WalkingMeAway · 16/01/2021 08:28

And* blood results.

kmini · 16/01/2021 08:35

Thank you everyone. Really appreciate your thoughts. Feeling a little better now! Xx
