Stop start labour?

Hi all,

I'm 36+5 with my third (my older two are 13 and 11 so don't remember much from having them!).
Last night I started having Braxton Hicks contractions every two minutes which lasted about a minute. This isn't particularly unusual for me this pregnancy, but they went on for a long time.. about an hour, then actually got quite painful, with period pain type feelings even when not contracting. These painful (like holding my breath a little etc) ones carried on for about 1.5 hours, two minutes apart, lasting 50-60 seconds, then they fizzled out and stopped.

I just don't really understand what that was? I've heard of stop start labours, so I guess I might be in for one of those? But were my contractions Braxton Hicks, or the start of latent labour? Should I assume baby will arrive in the next couple of days? Hmm

Could be braxton hicks or slow labor. I would contact your midwife and ask her for advice.
I had slow labor with our son, would have regular contraction for an hour or 2 a night then just stop. I had an internal at 39+6 and told I was 1cm dilated and to expect delivery soon. We went to hospital at 40+4 and I was only 5cm. They left me over 24hrs before agreeing to break my waters, he arrived 2hr 19 mins later. He had meconium in his waters so should have been given a push earlier really.

Good luck with delivery

Thank you.

They've started up again this afternoon.. and now I'm wondering if it might be the iron tablets I started yesterday, as I have a dodgy tummy as well... But then a dodgy tummy is also a sign of early labor Hmm

It's so frustrating not knowing!
