Hello everyone

Trying to see if anyone had this experience...so am 10weeks pregnant with twins. I have been spotting for a little over 3weeks now but my OB says nothing is wrong. My concern is, he only have the phone scan "ultrasound" where he sees the babies and tells me they have heartbeats. He doesn't have the huge ultrasound machine in his office yet, and his concern about sending me to get one done is the cost...as am self pay, and 1 ultrasound cost $960.
Am not sure what to do, should I just go with what he says about the twins being ok? Or...I don't...the spotting doesn't get heavy, it's only when I wipe

Are you waiting on a formal 12 week scan? $1000 is too much for a scan, don't pay that. Where are you?

Am waiting to qualify for medicaid, which will be in 4weeks...am in Dallas texas

Red bleeds that are heavier- more than when you wipe is when to be more concerned.

I used to get small bleeds, very light or when I wiped in early pregnancy. It's all about sure your hormones are at.

I'm in UK so scanning is nowhere near so expensive. To be honest, other than for your reassurance, there is nothing that can be done if anything more worrying is going on. You've had the check and heartbeats are heard and this is the main thing looked for on a scan.

$960 for one ultrasound scan?

Spotting is common in early pregnancy. If the doctor says the babies are okay I would just take doctors word for that under the circumstances.

@Basy19 I'm in California. I would stick with the Dr atm. You could go for a non-diagnostic scan, those are usually about $100 and only for cosmetic purposes but you will be able to see the foetuses and if the technician sees something untoward they won't tell you what is wrong but they will tell you to see your Dr.
The reason I say not to go for the expensive scan yet is that bleeding in pregnancy can be very common. It could be something straightforward like a haematoma, or your cervix or sometimes bleeding is unexplained. I absolutely understand the desire to have the scan and find out what is going on. But it is also a large amount of money which I'm guessing might be a stretch for you. Also because it is early in the pregnancy if something is going wrong there isn't much they can do.
I hope the Medicaid comes through soon for you OP. If you start to have sharp pain in your abdomen or lower back or if the bleeding becomes v heavy then go to the ER. I'm hoping the bleeding is just normal pregnancy bleeding though. Best of luck with your pregnancy!

At ten weeks there is nothing that can be done if they’re not ok so I wouldn’t spend that type of money on a scan. Do you know what type of twins they are for example do they share a placenta? Twin pregnancies are higher risk so you will need more scans and examinations that a single pregnancy but this early on it’s not necessary.
American medical costs are mind blowing. I can’t imagine the stress of having to consider cost for medical care

Thank you all for your replies...I will just sit tight and wait. @Dramacoasts doctor said they are fraternal twins
