Just that really! Realised today that my period was 9 days late. But I think I am perimenopausal because in recent months it's not been regular. Not even sure what drove me to do a test this time. But I did (twice!) And omg.
This is my third pregnancy, my partner's first. We are both in a bit of shock. We weren't trying, but I have been off the pill for a couple of years. Was pretty certain baby days were behind me for various reasons. My eldest DC is 10!
Just need a handhold please x

Congratulations! Same thing here, found out I was pregnant and I am 44! Was even on the waiting list for an hysterectomy due to heavy periods....the irony. You will be absolutely fine OP, welcome to the over 40's and pregnant club

Congratulations OP. I’m 40 next week and 19 wks pregnant. My eldest is 11. I have a toddler too and the big age gap has been fab. I’m sure you will do just fine once the shock wears off Flowers

I'm currently 35 weeks with baby no.3 and I'm also 43. My older DCs are 13 and 16, both the result of IVF after years of trying...so I never considered for a minute that I'd have a natural pregnancy at this stage! It was a huge shock to me and my DH and I'm not sure we were thrilled at first - but we are so excited for this little ones arrival now and couldn't be happier. Good luck to you.
